I have a Mitsubishi model WD-60737 and to make a long story short 1st time problem lamp replaced fine for a month til my uncle hooked a DVD player to my TV next day turned on with solid green light then TV kept turning off after 2 to 3 minutes of beingetting turned on and a solid red light to show after. What does that mean? It's a brand new lamp and worked for a month so why shut down now? Could my uncle have did something to where it shook up the circuits or something?

I had the same issue when replacing my lamp for the first time. I replace just the bulb with the Phillips replacement bulb. After installing the power down issue started and it would take up to 7 attempts before the TV would stay on with a picture.

Since I never had this problem until i replaced the bulb i decided to send the new bulb back and replace it with a difference one. In my opinion replacement parts are never made to the same standard as original OEM parts. This TV is definitely very temperamental in regard to the bulbs.

When the second replacement bulb arrived I decided to not only replace the bulb I also cleaned the connector plug in the cartridge with a QTip and alcohol. I did the same for the plug receptor in the TV.

When I replaced the bulb i insured the the top of bulb lettering was facing the handle of the cartridge so when you put the cartridge back in the TV the top of the bulb would be facing you.

I also cleaned the entire inside of the TV where the cartridge is inserted including the screws.

Once I did all this the TV turned on the first time and has been working fine for three days now.

I do believe the replacement bulb position is very important as to how it heats up and determines when it needs to cool.

I hope this helps others with the same success i had because I really do not want to replace this TV and start replacing all the parts others have done with little to no success for this issue.

The lamps are powered by the ballast board which in your case is faulty and it will have to be replaced - a very common fault in this type of tv's. The rest of the tv functions as it should.
You didn't posted in your question the exact model of your tv so i can't point you to a replacement board.

SOURCE: mistubishi tv humming and clicking sound, blinking picture and shuts down

It may be the Ballast or something else---have you tried (what is model) the self check most of these sets have?

Another less likely but possible cause is :

What do I do if my mitsubishi tv shuts off after 2 to 3 minutes and shows a solid red light code, which is saying the bulb is bad, I replaced bulb twice and both bulbs are new. What could be wrong?

What model is the TV? Also, what brand is the lamp? A lot of cheap lamps are truly junk and will not work. The bulb should be made by Osram or Philips.

3. Error Code Operational Check

Note: The TV must be in "Shut Down" and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational

Check. When the TV is switched Off, the code automatically resets to "12" No Error.

Pressing the front panel "DEVICE" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,

activates the Error Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem

has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.

• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.

• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.

• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.

Example: If the Error Code is "23", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times.

Ghost images!

I had the same problem, reset the lamp hours by pressing 'menu, 619 , menu" and browsing until I found the setting, but then I also saw an option to test the lamp.  The TV shut off when I tried this and 2 red lights indicating a new lamp is needed came on instead.  It's probably the ballast and not the lamp, but I don't know that I want to put any more money into this set.  I have only had it 2 years.

Correct voltage for lamp connection?

(Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977020 3. (Lamp may light and go out) Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V part # 181P732040 on the Power PCB (part # 930B921002) 4. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977020 5. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977020 6. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on and does go to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Lamp Power PCB (ballast) part # 939P978010 7. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. WD-62327 Lamp

OSRAM VS. PHILLIPS
This is about buying replacement bulbs for the WD62327 TVs.I dont know about the other models but I purchased a PHILLIPS replacement bulb and it worked for about a week and then those dumb flashing lights and no TV. I did some research and others were saying that you had to replace some condensers. Shop would do it for 600 dollars..Well i sent the bulb back and bought an OSRAM replaement bulb. The TV is now working perfect.

Tv keeps turning off?

cutta, you will most often hear a click on boot then the fans start up and lamp will then fire. The picture will start to show up....at what point does it shut off? and do you hear a click when the tv is turning off? Is it the complete tv shutting down, fans and everything that turns off? Do you see any lights on the the front panel "POWER", "STATUS" or "LAMP", what are they doing? If you see a Power, Status or Lamp light after it shuts off the below are what they mean if there is an issue. POWER - STATUS - LAMP - CONDITION/ISSUE: Off - Yellow - Off - Temp. high/dirty filter/excess room temp Off - Off - Yellow - 4000 hrs. Lamp usage warning Off - Off - Blink Yellow - Lamp Cover open Off - Blink Yellow - Off - Air Filter Cover open Off - Off - Red - Lamp failure (failed to turn On or broken) Off - Blink Red - Off - Fan Has Stopped Off - Red - Off - Circuit failure (short) or DVI cable disconnected If you want to check for the last "Error Code", after you first turn the TV on, by pressing the front panel ?DEVICE? and ?MENU? buttons at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds, it activates the Error Code Mode. The ?Power LED Light? blinks/flashes (1/2 sec delay) and then flashes again denoting a two digit Error Code indicating no problem or an error has occured since the last Initalization. i.e. "Power light" blinks 3 times (1/2 second delay) and then blinks 4 times then 1 sec delay and repeats a few times. This would mean "Error 34 - Lamp abnormality". See below for error codes..... Error Code - Description or issue 12 - No Error detected, check Power Supply 32 - Lamp Cover is open 33 - Air Filter Cover is open 34 - Lamp abnormality 36 - Light Engine (DMD or LAMP Fan stopped) 37 - Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped 38 - Lamp temperature high 39 - DMD temperature high 41 - Short is detected 44 - DVI cable between FMT & Engine disconnected. Sorry for the long answer but it was an open ended question.
