No Disk issues on device players like DVDs are caused by the following problems
Dirty Play Heads (Optical lens)
Bad CDs or scratched CDs on the surface
Non Compatible CD formats such as DVDs that are designed for some geographical regions and play formats
Also low electrical current is a major problem too
Your issue could reside amongst any of these problems
Check your DVD compactible play formats if its compactible with the CD you want to play.
If its compactible, then I suggest you get a CD Cleaner to clean to clean to Lens.
Also check your current output and if low, get a voltage stabilizer
Check the surface of the CD if its scratched and get a replacement.

This unit has a problem when playing dual-layer discs of some kinds - read the warnings on the Magnavox website - playing the wrong kind of disc will cause an error that will require svc/repalcement to fix
