Sounds like the flyback, (main power provider to the picture tube is shorting, 20,000 plus volts inside so don't go in there thinking you can fix it, it is toast, time for another set

This could cause a problem, because modern TVs and most other entertainment electronic goods, have a small kind of computer chip, but there should be a Reset button probably inside the set! If you feel confident about computer chips you may be able to find the button by tracing the circuit.(Disconnected from the mains). Another idea is if there is a small button cell or battery inside, then try disconnecting it for a day. Good Luck!

SOURCE: TV will not turn on when power button is pushed.

check the main fuse in the tv. test it with a multimeter, not visually. if its the thermistor that blew the fuse, it is very difficult to see the break in the wire. replace if blown. if unit blown fuse again withing a couple of weeks replace the thermistor in the degausing circuit. good luck.

SOURCE: tv won't power on

the flashes are a indication of the actual problem. 5 flashes along with a popping sound is the flyback transformer failing to provide the high voltage necessary to reproduce the image on the screen.

Your color wheel is clapped out. The part is not directly replaceable - they seal it in the light engine and won't sell spares. A rebuilt engine for this set will probably run you between 230 and 270 USD. Replacing it is a cinch if you can get another engine for it.

TV worked fine for 12 years till this evening. When I push the power button there is an electronic clicking sound inside but the set will not turn on. The speaker still makes the quiet popping sound it...

The tv has a high voltage problem, sets that last ten years or more have come to the point where a new tv should be considered, because even if you fix it there is good chance something else will go wrong, remember the parts are twelve years old.

TV pops, then no picture or sound

Trintitron were very state of the art when they came out in the 1960s. The Sony company stopped production of the newer version, flat screen in 2008 of the trintitron. Popping noises aren't a good sign. You can try resetting it to factory default settings. Try to have the power on to tv, then, hold down the reset button on the REMOTE CONTROL- next on the tv PRESS THE POWER BUTTON ON=IF AND WHEN THE TV WILL TURN ITSELF OFF AND ON AGAIN, THEN YOU CAN RELEASE THE RESET BUTTON. Unless it This noise is caused by the expansion and contraction of the cabinet during warm up and cool down of the lamp in the optical block of the television. This is normal operation. But you having no picture, this could be your power circuit is going out. You can get it fixed, but if it is an older tv you may want to upgrade to an LCD, HD, or even a plasma. They have really nice flat screen HD TV now that are not too expensive. But if you are pleased with this tv it might be worth getting it fixed.

RCA Projection TV

that would be the inverter board, supplies power to the bulb, you would need to replace this part, but don't touch the board without wearing rubber gloves, as it can store a lot of voltage when they fail . when you get the board out discharge the capacitors to make it safe. cross the live and negative on the capacitors.
