- re.i have a sony handycam dcr-dvd 304 which is displaying "recording on disc disabled"
It seems to be the disk which is the problem and not the camera
I can't finalise the disc or edit it in any form - yet I can view the video on the camera - is there any other way of finalising the disc without the camera - the camera does not link to the PCSorry - I should've given more information

It sounds like your Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder may have a problem with the battery or the power connection.
For the battery issue, you can try replacing the battery with a new one that is compatible with your camcorder. The Sony NP-FP50 or NP-FP70 are compatible batteries for your DCR-DVD108. You can purchase them online or from a camera store.
As for the "Movie Disabled" message, it may be caused by the type of disc you are using. The Sony DCR-DVD108 camcorder is compatible with DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, but it may not be compatible with all brands of discs. You may need to try using a different brand of disc to see if that resolves the issue.
Additionally, make sure that the camcorder is set to the correct recording mode, such as video mode, and that there is enough space on the disc to record the video. If none of these solutions work, there may be a problem with the camcorder itself, and it may need to be repaired or replaced.
This message appears when mini dvd disc got some error in recording tracks, if its rewritable mini disc then format it as option is available in camera settings menu and if disc is once writable then use another disc as it can not be formatted. Caution: Format will erase/ delete all files on dvd disc and refresh the dvd disc.
Try to use a cotton swap to 1st clean the recording lens or blow gently
on it. Place an empty disc in, format the disc, record a little scene.
Turn off camcorder. Place the error disc in the camcorder, turn on the
camcorder all the way to play/edit. If this doesn't work turn it to
record and try to record. Worked for some of my error disc
I'm sorry to say, that all disk manufactures are not the same. If you used a "no name" disk, then the quality may not be what you want, although in rare cases, even good companys like Memorex can make a bad batch or two. Just try another disk. Let me know if that works by leaving a comment. If this works for you, rate my solution a fixya!
Sorry - I should've given more information
