A test on my J3680 printer says wrong phone cord. Never heard of that.

Windows 7. Current phone system is Time Warner Cable. One error said using wrong kind of phone cord. Same cord used for 8 years. Tried new one. No difference. Could the fact that cable provider has gone all digital and this is an old printer?

SOURCE: HP Desk Jet 842C printer - need cable

Hi Debbie,

You should be able to use this printer with a USB cable. You can pick up a USB cable just about anywhere that they sell computer or printer equipment. Just tell them you need a USB printer cable. This is a standard item and no further description is needed.

The Driver for this will probably be a native driver, and you probably wont have to download a new one, but just in case, here is the link for the driver directly from HP.

SOURCE: Cannot send faxes when using cable company's digital voice modem

Fax machines must have a standard analog phone line. They won't work on a digital line and can actually be damaged if hooked up to one.

SOURCE: I have just tried to install hp 7280 all in

Does the printer print its own self test page? if so then check solution center if it states that there are no devices detected or that you need to insert the disk and complete the installation it means that the drivers did not install properly. if you havent already download the full feature software and drivers from hp and uninstall the previous installation that was attempted.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3441026&

Please select your windows system 32 or 64 bit version.
And click next.
Uninstall ALL the old software before you install the new one.
Disconnect the USB cable while you install the new software
and put it back in when the installation program tells you so.

I can`t tell you about the firmware because you have not written what
windows version you have.

Time Warner Digital phone produces a constant beep sound that only the person other end can hear

I have the same problem, too. (I also have Time Warner Cable.) I contacted Time Warner and the service rep told me it must be on the other person's end. I have trouble believing that though, because everyone on the other end seems to complain of the same problem when I call them.
Did you find out what was wrong with your problem? I think it might be the phone system I'm using, so I wonder if it would still beep on the other end if I buy a new cordless phone?
Are you in southern California? I notice I also have to keep resetting my modem and wifi router for the internet too (sometimes multiple times in the same hour) because the internet stops working. (My internet is also Time Warner Cable.)

My new computer has windows 7 and disk for set up is for xp. How do I download so compatible with

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

I just got a new pc with windows 7, could I connect my J4580 and my J3680?

If you are planning on installing both printers to this windows 7 PC, then yes, you can connect them. What you need to do first is install the driver, compatible for windows 7, for both these printers before connecting them.

Why am I getting this message? Error 402 fax machine. HP Officejet J3680

Error Code: 402

Definition

During a V.34 transmission, the local machine is unable to connect (handshake) with the remote machine and is consequently unable to send a T30 frame. This occurs when the line is disconnected or if line conditions degrade during the session.

Solutions
  • Remove any pass-through devices from the phone line, and then try the fax again.
  • Confirm that the fax/phone cable is no longer than required, and that it does not pass near unshielded electric motors such as fans, heaters, or household appliances.
  • Try to send the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved.

It will boot up to the windows screen and freezes.

If your computer was able to boot up but unable to load the Windows, the most common cause would be the recently intstalled software or Windows update.

To remove this, follow these steps. Skip Step 1 if it is not relevant.

Step 1: Removing recently added hardware
Use the steps in this section to disconnect any recently added hardware and test for the error.

NOTE: If a new internal device (sound card, hard drive, or other) was added to the computer before the error message started to occur, you have to remove it before continuing.

  1. Turn off the PC and unplug the power cord.
  2. Disconnect the mouse, and any other peripherals attached (Printer, scanner, webcam, zip drive, phone cord, network cable and other devices). Leave only the keyboard and monitor cable attached.
  3. Press and hold the power button on the front of the PC. Release after 10 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the computer.
  6. The computer displays the We apologize for the inconvenience... message. Allow the timer to count down from 30 to 0.
  7. If the computer successfully starts to the Windows desktop and does not restart to the error message, connect one device and wait until Windows recognizes it.
  8. To find if a device is causing the error, continue connecting the devices, one at a time, restarting the computer each time, until the device that is causing the error is found.
NOTE: If this does not solve the issue try to do a system restore BUT it will delete all your files and programs you install by yourself after the system. You will be able to use the pc as a new pc.

I got a cyberpower pc need help

Are you using windows XP or Vista. You should not have a problem if after you do a full system recovery, you add any service pack updates. Download these first and burn to a disk. Also make sure that all the drivers get reinstalled ok. After doing the recovery go into system device manager to see if your network card is installed even if it is a internal one on your motherboard.

If your connection is wireless you may need to setup a wired connection first from the router.

Time warner roadrunner usually works right away with little problems.
