I have a communication error problem with the battery pack attached. As long as I connect the AC/DC line in, the camera boots properly.

Are you using a JVC battery? I had the same problem when I tried to use an off-brand battery. They wouldn't work with my camera. Had to use JVC brand.

I just looked at the schematic and the only problem is likely the charging, or external power connection not connecting the battery when the plug is removed. A bit of De-Oxit spray may resolve the problem, or the connector itself may need to be repaired/replaced. This happens a lot with this type of connector.

In the case of error code 10h or 12h:

Make sure the AC adaptor cord and AC power cord are firmly plugged into the DC IN 15 V socket and wall outlet. If the cables are connected correctly, connect a new AC adaptor and/or AC power cord, if necessary.

In the case of error code 2Xh:

Make sure the battery pack is correctly installed in the computer. If the battery pack is correctly installed, replace the battery pack with a new one.

If the error still exists, the system board or the battery board may be disconnected or damaged. Disassemble the computer and check the connection between the AC adaptor and the system board and connection between the system board and the battery board (if there is one, in my case it was integrated to ths system board).

After checking the connection, perform the following:
Check 1
Replace the AC adaptor with a new one. If the AC adaptor is still not functioning properly, perform Check 2.
Check 2
Use a multimeter to make sure that the F8800 fuse on the System board is not blown. If the fuse is not blown, go to Check 3. If the fuse is blown, go to Check 6.
Check 3
Use a multimeter to make sure that the F1000 fuse on the Battery board is not blown. If the fuse is not blown, go to Check 4. If the fuse is blown, replace the Battery board with a new one following the instructions in Chapter 4.
Check 4
Make sure that the Battery board cables are firmly connected to PJ8820 and PJ8821 on the System board and to PJ1000 and PJ1001 on the battery board. If they are connected firmly, go to Check 5.
Check 5
The Battery board or System board may be damaged. Replace it with a new one following the instructions in Chapter 4.

Camera won't turn on

1. Most likely is discharged or improperly inserted batteries. Make sure to use freshly charged AA batteries that are inserted with the correct polarity. The Inner 2 have the minus side up and the outer 2 batteries have the + side facing up.

2. Close the battery door fully because the battery cover pushes on a small sensor that has to be closed before the camera will turn on. The battery cover slides and clicks into place. If the battery cover sensor is bent or damaged then the camera would not turn on. The battery cover sensor is tiny, and out of the way and probably not obvious that is has one.

3. Insert the proper memory card and close the memory card cover securely. If it's left open or not seated fully the camera may not turn on. I

4. Also remove the memory card and re-seat it, then close the cover again in case it was not fully closed.

5. Remove the batteries and check that the battery terminals are clean and they appear to be intact. For example, corrosion from leaking batteries could cause a poor connection.

6. Was the camera dropped? If it was dropped that can bend the metal battery contacts, then when you put the batteries in it doesn't really contact the battery properly.

7. If it still won't turn on have an electronics guy check it over, or at the local college electronics teacher. I've fixed these before and the main DC circuits are not too complicated. These camera's can even be powered up using a regulated 6V DC power supply connected properly to the battery terminals, (just for testing) and in that case you don't need batteries to tell that the camera works or not. These draw about 300mA of current when ran from 5V to 6V DC.

I attached a JPG photo showing a similar Canon A60 running via a DC power supply and no batteries. This one was apart at the time to fix a stuck zoom lens, and when it's apart there is no where to put the batteries so I have to power it this way.

You do not have to take it apart or use this method. I just mentioned this so it's clear that all it needs to run is 5 -6V DC from properly charged and inserted batteries (or an external source). Don't try connecting anything if you are not familiar with electronics because connecting it up wrong can damage the camera. Try the suggestions mentioned early and it will probably work since these are pretty reliable cameras.

No. You do have the battery charger, right? If not, get one
FYI
When connecting the AC adapter to the camera’s DC-IN jack, be careful not to
catch the plug on the jack’s cover.
● If the battery power runs out while the camera is connected to a computer,
image data may be corrupted. It is recommended that you use the optional AC
adapter when transferring images to a computer. Do not disconnect or connect
the AC adapter while the camera is communicating with the computer. Or just make sure your battery is fully charged!
● Power is consumed continuously during the conditions described below.
This could reduce the number of pictures that can be taken.
•When the monitor is turned on.
•Repeated auto-focus by pressing the shutter button halfway.
•Repeated power zoom adjustments.
•When communicating with a computer.
● Do not remove or load the battery and/or do not disconnect or connect the
AC adapter while the camera is turned on. Doing so could damage the camera’s settings or functions.

My Kodak Easyshare V1233 will only power up when plugged into the wall charger. Even after staying on the charger it will not power on unless plugged in.

Kodak has 3 types of charger that can be connected to a wall socket

3V AC Adapter - Provides direct power to your camera but it will not charge the camera battery

* You need to check the type of adapter your using. If your using the 5V AC adapter or USB adapter and the camera won't charge the battery contact kodak support line 1 800 235 6325 (23KODAK) for possible repair.

JVC EVERIO HYBRID GZ-MG330 Battery error?

I bought a replacement data battery BN-VF-808U from Digicowfish through Amazon.com. (?made by PomerPower).
It fits nciely to my JVC Everio GZ-MG330 which uses a BN-VF808U data battery. However, JVC gives a screen message:Communicating Error.
Now I have solved my Communication Error by using a jumper cable provided with the replacement battery BN-VF808U to connect the attached replacement battery to the camcorder. There is a DC input socket on the camcorder. There is also a DC input socket on the replacement battery for direct connection.

Supersonic SC-299TDVD

Battery back needs to be connected to the DVD player when charging. connect the batter pack to player. Run the DC/out from the battery pack to the DC/in in the player. plug the charger into the wall.

if that does not work, you have a bad battery

Re-attach the power source flashing

I had the same problem. I took off the battery pack and wiped the it down with a kleenex as well as the socket in the camera where the battery pack connects to. This fixed the problem.
