How do i replace the recovery tank latch without breaking the plastic

I have the replacement latch but cannot get it to fit easily and I am afraid of breaking the plastic hinge pins if I force it. Is there a method to this madness?

It's an easy repair. 8 screws and 1 wire harness retainer clip. Remove both tanks, undo the 4 screws, carefully separate the handle from the base. Gently pull down on the wire harness retainer clip (do not pull on the wires) undo 4 of the 10 screws on the top of the handle. 4 of the screws hold in the switchboard where the wire clips in don't undo those, and the other 2 screws your not removing attach the cord retainer handle. It took me all of 10 minutes to pull it apart, and put it back together.

How can I install recovery tank latches on Hoover Steam Vacuum model F-220?

To install the recovery tank latches on a Hoover Steam Vacuum model F-220, follow these steps:
  1. First, make sure that the recovery tank is empty and that the machine is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Locate the two latch slots on the sides of the recovery tank. These are the slots where the latches will be installed.
  3. Hold one of the latches with the clip facing up and the open end facing the latch slot.
  4. Insert the latch into the latch slot, making sure that the clip is facing towards the front of the machine.
  5. Repeat this process for the other latch on the opposite side of the recovery tank.
  6. Once both latches are installed, close the recovery tank and make sure that it is securely locked in place.
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

I can't latch recovery tank lid on hoover carpet cleaner

Hire a professional to steam clean your carpets... and never use a rental unit that uses liquid soaps or you will inject mold, mildew and and other contaminants from other peoples' homes.

H3000 Motor becomes very hot during use

Over heating on a floormate is cuased by obstructions or a clogged up filter. Try running it without the recovery tank. If it doesn't over heat you need to check for obstructions in the nozzle and the tube leading up to the recovery tank. if that is all clear, a new filter should fix it.

If the machine over heats without the recovery tank on it, you might be right. Hoover only sells motor assemblies, not just the brushes. I have never seen them used enough to need new motor brushes simply because of wear. If the brushes are worn down completely, there is probably a short in the motor.

Let me know if this helps.

I just purchased a floormate. I can't seem to get it to spray cleaning solution.

Turn the cleaner off and then on again to determine whether the cause of no suction resulted from the activation of the automatic shut-off. There are two reasons a tank will automatically shut off. The first is if the recovery tank is full. Located on the lower front panel of the unit, the recovery tank can be easily emptied and replaced into position. To remove from unit, press down on the release button and pull the tank downward and forward. Lift up on the tank latch lid and take out the tank lid. Empty the tank. Also check the tank lid screen for debris and remove any found. To replace the lid, align the tab that corresponds to the front hole of the tank. Snap the latches on the back of the tank. Insert the bottom of the tank back into the cleaner and push in and up until it locks in place.
Turn the unit on again and check the suctioning action. The second reason automatic shut-off could take place is if the handle was raised to an upright position while the motor was running. Should this occur, simply turn the unit off, wait a moment for the shut-off to reset, and turn it on again to continue cleaning.
  • 2 Make sure the filter and filter lid are properly positioned in the recovery tank lid. The cause of the problem could be that the filter or the filter lid were missing or were not in the proper position.
  • 3 Check that both recovery tank and/or solution tanks are locked in place and are positioned properly. The recovery tank is located on the lower front panel of the Floormate, and the solution tank is located in the front top panel of the unit.
  • 4 Observe whether filter is dirty. If the filter is dirty, clean the filter by turning the cleaner off and disconnecting it from the electrical unit. Take out the recovery tank and lid. Remove loose debris from the filter by wiping clean with a brush or tapping the filter over a garbage can. After this is completed, the filter may be rinsed clean for additional cleaning and then air dried before returning the filter to the unit.
  • 5 Check that the nozzle is in the proper position and locked. Locate the nozzle underneath the suctioning base of the unit. Make sure the latches are out and line up the middle section of the nozzle with the opening of the cleaner. Hold the nozzle in place while simultaneously sliding the latches inward to lock in

My Hoover steam vac spin scrub model 4060-900 brushes are not spinning and I have lost the manual. Any ideas. Thanks. [email protected]

The problem I found with one a neighbor was tossing out is the bearings in the part that drives the brushes were stuck. Lubing them up solved the problem, but took a bit of work to get into. This also provides a good chance to clean the crud out of bits that usually don't get much attention. I found mine clogged with a fair amount of pet hair.

You'll need a Phillips & Flat Screwdriver, some light machine (3-in-1) oil or Lithium (white) grease, and a lot of patience. Having a pan or something handy to keep all the little bits organized would help.

First remove both the soap & recovery tanks, they'll just get in the way & are designed to be easily removed & replaced for filing/dumping. Be sure to fold the "wings" for the recovery tank in or they'll foul removing the cover later (as will the brush speed button).

The tricky part is getting the Brush Speed knob off. It's held on only by friction, but can be tough to pull for without breaking the plastic stick it's pushed onto.

Remove the brushes. There are 4 blocks between the outer & next in rollers. Put the flat screwdriver between the gray & clear plastic, pushing gently toward the brushes. This pushes a wedge away far enough from a hole in the gray plastic to "unhook" the brush housing from the main body. Once all 4 are clear, the brush assembly should pull out easily.

Remove the 2 big screws in front of the brushes and the one at the back of the clear plastic front of the vacuum bit. The small ones at the extreme front corners hold on the clear plastic front, and can be removed if you want to clean out the vacuum channel, but are not necessary to remove to remove the top.

Toward the back sides of the top are 2 slots that hold this part on. Once the front screws are removed & the front is loose, push the side in gently & you should be able to lift the back of the cover. Push in lift both side, the top should pop right off.

Now I have the top off, holding 2 black & 1 silver long screw. In the center-front of the new-exposed guts is a box with a round top & a cone at the front with 2 screws.

This is the Brush Motor Assembly, and it's actually vacuum-powered. Remove the 2 screws holding down the from, then look for 2 large holes on the bottom of the unit behind the black "squirter bar".

There's very long screws at the bottom of these holes that also hold down the brush motor.Once the 2 bottoms screws have been fully loosened & the top-front screws removed, the brush motor should pull up easily.

On the right is a square port, in front the the brush speed stick (where the gray button pops onto). on the left is a gray & black hose, these should pull off easily, but may have some liquid in them.

Pull out the brush motor & set it on a convenient spill-resistant work surface upside-down. You should see the square-hole drice for the brushes, a gray piece of plastic, & a cresent-shaped hole.

The port at the front & hole on bottom provide an air path for the vacuum to poll air through this assembly & spin the brushes. You should see 2 screws at the back of the motor & 2 more at the bottom of holes surrounded by the gray plastic. Remove all 4 screws.

You can now pull off the bottom cover with the gray plastic. Front to back you should see the brush drive gear, an intermidiate gear, ant one of the bearings for the fan that drives the whole thing. pulling out the bearing & gears to clean out this area & lube up the gears with some Lithium Grease helps, as well as making sure the bearing is well lubed with 3-in-1 oil and/or lithium grease.

The top is held on at this point with 4 platic clips. The top doesn't need to be removed unless you *really* have to see the fan. The clips can be broken off if one is not careful, and there's nothing in there to be lubed. Best to leave it as-is.

At the top of the driveshaft is a second sealed bearing. I couldn't figure out how to get it out without braking it, lube this one in place. The bearings are supposed to be sealed, so removing the black "washer" from the bearing is done completely at your own risk. I just put some oil on there, spun it to work it in, then repeated with the white grease.

Replace the intermediate gear, the brush drive gear, then the lower sealed bearing in that order. You can spin the gears to ensure they're spinning well. Mine was OK, but after a bit of use worked the grease in & the brushes really started spinning.

Keep in mind everything here except the screws is plastic, be creful to get a snug fit with the screws without overtightening. "Gorilla-ing" the screws will just break the plastic & make the whole adventure an exercise in frustration.

Reattach the bottom plate with all 4 screws, 2 in the holes in the gray plastic, 2 in the back.

Reattach the gray & balck hoses to the left side of the brush drive. They're 2 different sizes, so there's only 1 place the smaller hose will fit easily. Place the assembly back in the machine & replace the 2 screws in the front.

Flip the machine up so you can put the 2 really long screws back into the underside of the brush drive. There's 2 guide slots on either side, make sure the brush with the indicator wheel on top goes into the big hole on the right. You may need to spin the brushes a bit to get the center squure stick to line up with the hole in the drive gear. The brushes should pop back in easily if everything's lined up right.

Put the top cover on, making sure the Brush Speed stick & center screwhole line up, as well as the back sides snap into place.

Screw down the top, then flip the unit up so you can snap the bottom-front of the top over the gray wedges on the front, then screw into place.

Replace the Recovery Tank, fill & replace the solution tank, and test-drive.

Hoover F6028-900 Need to replace the hose assembly but am unsure of how to get the old one disconnected.

It's probably harder to explain than it is to do.

Take off the recovery tank and underneath it you can see where the hose attaches to the unit. On the bottom side of that inlet is a clip that latches the hose onto the machine. Slide a flat underneath that clip and gently lift it(It breaks very easily) while pulling on the hose. After you get that part off the just pry that corner piece out off the machine(Okay to use some force with that) and the hose comes off and the new one just pops back on the same way.

If you do break that clip(It happens to the best of us), just drill on small hole on the top and use a screw to hold it in place, thats all that clip does anyhow.

Good Luck! Let me know how it goes, and let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

HOOVER FLOOR MATE WILL NOT SUCTION WATER

There are no belts. If it makes the noise with the brush assembly removed the motor drive assembly is bad. It ia a complete assembly that can easily be replace by a repairman or ypouself if you are cleaver with tools. Good luck.

No suction to retrieve water from carpet

The tank lid of your recovery tank is designed to engage two tabs to lock the front of the lid down on the seals. Look at the front corners of your recovery tank. You will see a tab extending out on each corner. These two tabs insert into the corresponding grooves in the lid. Once engaged, the lid folds down and the clip on the lid snaps into the back of the tank. When installed correctly, if you pull up on the front of the lid, it should NOT lift away from the tank. The front of the tank has a square "duct" that is removable for when the hose is inserted for furniture, etc. Make sure that this duct is replaced back into the tank when using on the carpet.
