How do I get the sound on my ipad apple 16gb

I had the sound earlier on my ipad and I was playing games and music videos and a song came on and I couldn't get it to turn off so I turned down the volume and lost my sound my ipad works fine except no sound. When I try to turn the volume on high I still have no sound. I think I hit a button when I turned the sound off please help.

•Go to iPad's settings first
•Scroll down the left button and then choose "Sounds"
•Choose the volume of alerts matches by turning on "Change With Buttons"
•After that you will find the list of alerts in volume slider. Choose either "New Mail" or "Sent Mail" from the list

You sure you want sound? Its the same repetitive 6 second whistling looped over and over. Usually one you start the game you just turn up/down the volume using the buttons. Unless there is an in game mute. Possibly a side switch like on the iphone.
