Sounds like a spring tension problem. Best toi call a professional as retensioning the springs can be a source of serious personal injury.

SOURCE: Garage Door doesn't close

I had the same problem and fixed it by greasing the chain and roller chamber and spraying silicone on the springs. Works beatifully now AND my wife is happy.

SOURCE: Automatic Garage door reverses and automatically opens after closing

I can't believe it! My opener works fine a 10 degrees and above but below 10 degrees it would go down a little ways stop and go back with the light flashing. I checked the electric eye and found it would go out of alignment when the temp drop. Who knew!
I made the adjustment and it now works fine.

SOURCE: garage door remote won't open the garage door

The little button with a padlock on the wall control is a "vacation" lockout feature that disables the remotes. There should be a small LED on the wall control that is always on steady. When the padlock button is pressed and released the LED should be constantly blinking (indicating the vacation lockout mode is active) and your remotes should be disabled. The wall control will still operate the door. Pushing the padlock button again should make the LED stop blinking and restore the door to normal operation.

Release the garage door from the opener and open the door by hand, if it is vey heavy you may have a broke spring inside the torsion bar above the header, check then to see if the opener goes through the complete cycle O K with the door not attached. If you don't have a broken spring you may need to increase the up force on the opener head.

The motor runs but it only opens a few inches and slowly goes back down its a chamberlain whisper drive model HD900D

Hi. I have seen this before, although usually not from chamberlain garage door openers.

Pull the release cord that unlocks the door from the opener, and manually open the door ALL the way open.

Then lock back in place in the open position.

Then use automatic opener to shut door.

It will close very slowly, but should close all the way.

Then, open the door again using the remote, and the door will once again open slowly, this time it should open all the way.

Then close door with remote, and door should now close as it is supposed, with the proper speed.

The slow opening and shutting is the system position sensor resetting itself.

This is why your door is acting up.

I would also look up by the belt drive connects to the front of the garage door opening, to make sure there isn't any dirt, cobwebs, or other obstructions on the sensor that may cause it to re-close the way it does.

My Lift Master Formula 1 is not closing all the time. It will close about 1~2 feet the reverse and reopen. This happens using the remote and the manual button. Also, after it reopens the light blinks...

I recommend this to everyone with garage door opener problems:

Use the pull cord and disconnect the opener from the door. Operate the opener and let the carrier slide back away from the door. Is the carrier moving smoothly when disconnected? Next, lift the door by hand from the bottom to the top. Is it moving smoothly? If not, lubricate the hubs of all the rollers on both sides of the door. Check the cable pulleys at the top sides of the door channel, lubricate them as well. Are all cables in all the pulleys, there are 4.

Garage door not opening properly.

Check the springs on your garage door. If one is broken, the opener will not have enough power to raise up and it will stop like that.Or the up and down limit settings have gone off or bad.

Door won't close, blinks 10 times, sensor light yellow

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem or the wiring to them. Nothing else causes this symptom.

Craftsman garage door opener

IF IT HITS THE FLOOR AND GOES BACK UP. YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE DOWN LIMIT.

IF IT GOES BACK UP BEFORE HITTING THE FLOOR YOU NEED TO ADJUST THE SENSITIVITY OR THE SAFETY EYES.

TRY THE DOOR MANUALLY AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS SMOOTHLY.
