Hello Janice,
This is a very good robust machine worth keeping if in good shape. Although at first it appears complex, as soon as you learn how to communicate with it, it is a quite enjoyable.

Winding the bobbin and threading is very similar to its predecessors 6270 and 6170. Putting into words is rather cumbersome without pics, but the link below shows a very good representation: to http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Viking_Sewing_Machine_threading/Viking_6170_6270_Threading_Diagram.htm

Now oiling and maintenance.
All metal-to-metal moving parts must be cleaned first and then oiled with sewing machine oil, not any other oil.

If you have cams to create all the stitches, they are inserted in the cam compartment at specific settings. For this reason, it would be worth while to obtain a Manual. You can obtain one on-line at a reasonable price at

although there is a small cost, the amount of information contained is well worth it.

Please let me know if this answered your questions, and hope you really enjoy sewing on your Viking 6370.

Husqvarna Viking model 6370. Where can I buy a bobbin case?

Try a Viking dealer store. One can also be purchased online from some of the sewing machine vendors.

How to clean a Viking 6430 sewing machine

You can find extensive information here: http://stitchesandseams.blogspot.com/2010/04/review-viking-6010-sewing-machine.html.
You really should get a manual. It will give you all the details about cleaning your machine. You start by opening anything you can (be careful with the screws and plates - I keep a magnet for holding these while I clean) Take a pipe cleaner and/or a small sewing machine brush and get out any lint. This is where you first need your manual. It will tell you how to clean the bobbing case. After all lint is removed, you will need to oil it in certain spots...again, you need the manual for this. Always use sewing machine oil in your machine. It is different than other oils. You can download your manual here: http://gotoes.org/sales/VikingSewingMachineManuals/ViewInfo.pl?Viking=1&Sewing_Machine_Model=6430. I think they charge $7 for it.

Viking 6690 will only sew in reverse what to do

The reverse mechanism has a tendency to stick in these machines. Unfortunately, putting oil on it will not make it come loose. You need to find an authorized dealer that knows your machine and they can take care of it for you. Some areas of this machine must be disassembled to be cleaned properly.

Viking sewing machine 21E

Yes you can oil it, but you need a solvent, like terpentine, to clean the inside of old grease and sticky oil. Best done by a authorised technician.
