My Epson Perfection 3490 Photo flatbed scanner has accumulated a lot of dust on the INSIDE of the glass. How do I clean the inside of the class on this device. The scanner generates a lot of dust and grime.
Disconnect and remove the lid. Remove the two screws on the back of the base. Then use a screwdriver or flat blade to slightly open the back seam. Beginning at the back, run a blade up inside the upper part of the side seam. You will need to release three catches on each side. Once the sides are loose, raise the back of the top, while pushing forward, and the two snap catches at the front will release. The top then lifts off and you can clean the glass. Reassemble in reverse order.
I have never done that particular one, but you can remove the glass and clean the bottom. Most are fairly easily removed by removing a few screws. And yes, almost every one of these things do gather dust on the inside. Most come from the factory with it :>)
