the above link shows you how to change the belt on the g-series kirbys but it will apply to the heritage edition as well...the only difference is the color...some of the arrows may be missing on the front belt lifter knob...but they are little differences...

hope this helps!!!

SOURCE: Kirby Heritage 2 fan replacement

Take the bag asm. and handle off. Then remove the plastic strip covering the switch, remove the screw there, remove the 3 screws on the housing, turn it over and loosen the screw near the back, the housing should come off. Then remove the screws on the back of the fan casing. You shouild be able to get to the fan, hold the fan and turn the spindle to the right to take off. If it would turn off, then you may have to lock the armature so it can't turn to move it. Then re-asemble in reverse.

SOURCE: i,m down to the removal

Ok so Once i took off the back/engine cover (lift the plastic near the switch theres another screww there) go the front and take out the 2 screwws that hold the hose attachment switch.
I you hold the fan and insert a strong bar/small screwwdriver in the hole on the splindle (dont use your needlenose pliers like i did cos they break!) turn er anticlockwise i think and it all comes loose easy enough

And thats pretty much it replace the fan and reverse your action to finish the job
thanx to those who wrote their answers

SOURCE: replace my fan on my kerby

I had to replace mine fan yesterday. I broke away some of the outer pieces and grabbed the fan around the center with some vise grips and put another vise grip on the shaft. ( You can also put a hard steel tool of some kind through the hole in the shaft) when facing the front from the attachment side the shaft unscrews when turning it clockwise. It comes apart right in front of the fan where the washer is.

How to remove a Kirby Heritage II Armature

The armature that holds the fan on is reverse threaded. It turns to the right to remove it. You can put a nail or nail punch in the hole on the armature and tap it gently to the right. this should loosen it enough to unscrew. There's a washer, then the fan, and a spacer that fit over the shaft.

I might buy a used Kirby Heritage II , my question is does it have drive tech

Kirby Heritage is not a self propelled vac...but the newer
G series 3-4-5 etc are. This is a rugged fan first vac, expensive to maintain if you are rough on it and bulky to use but it grooms the carpet nicely.
It is also a fan first vac, meaning everything hits the fan before being blown into the bag. Nothing larger than your fingernail should be picked up EVER or you will blow the fan. Maintain it and it should run a long time in wide open areas...
