Need to disassemble a Toshiba Satellite c55-b5299 in order to increase the Ram. The laptop only comes with 2GB of Ram. I would like to have at least 4GB and preferably 8GB

no there is not a order for that but you can try one by one like that you'll see if that is detected or not so if any one is not detected or does what it was on the first time may be there is a bad one so try it

start--my computer(right click it)---manage---disk management---
see your new hard disk & right click and shirnk volume

Unfortunately, the slots on this motherboard are limited to a max of 2 GB each. You won't be able to use a 4 GB DDR2 800MHz memory stick with this computer. (This limit is due to the way the circuitry/programming of the board was designed.)
I wish that I had better news for you. You might be better off installing a Unix based OS which uses less memory or searching for a new laptop. Just remember to save your files on a different drive before making any changes.
