How can I remove my neighbor from my network

I invited my elderly neighbor to use my internet access by giving her my password and user name to connect to my network. Now her son is using it as well and I need to remove them from access. How can I do this and to ensure they won't see my password change if applicable and do I need to do this change while they are offline and if so, how do I know if they are using my network at the time. Thank you

Easiest thing to do, Change the password to your router. Once this is done, it will prevent your neighbor from any further access to your router and of course prevent internet access. Most all routers are simply a local web address for access. Example: 192.168.1.1 typed inside a browser address pane will take you inside the router. Check your router for setup procedures.

Have a great night..

Is your neighbor connected to guest network or main wireless network?
If he is connected to guest network then you can disable the guest network.
If he is connected to the main wireless network then you can change the password of the main wireless network.
You must have installed the Cisco connect software on your main computer. Open the Cisco connect software. Go to Computers and devices. You will see the list devices connected to the network. Make sure that your neighbor is not there in the list.
Using Cisco connect, you can change the wireless settings on the router.

SOURCE: network problem

Be sure that you only enter the password admin - in small letters. The user name shuld be left blank (empty space).

This should work UNLESS you (or someonhe else) previously changed the password. Is this a brand new unit? If someone changed the password, you'll have to use the new password.

What Version is the the router? Did you buy it from a store?

SOURCE: Using Linksys to connect desktop and laptop

If your provider uses the connection through Modem, then you can access only one system at a time.

So please check with the ISP provider, however you can share the existing connect by purchasing a third party software.

If the ISP provider use Router to connect the Switch then it should work.

Therefore the problem is with the ISP side.

As a work around solution you can share the network connection to other PC. For Example like file sharing

SOURCE: i want ot know how

Most linksys switches and routers use a simple management interface which is accessable through internet explorer.
Open internet explorer and type this address into the address bar;
192.168.1.1
and yes, the periods are important.
When the access dialog box opens, type in the user as "admin"
type in the password as "admin"
this should get you in.
If the user or passwords have been changed then all you can do is to reset the switch or router back to factory defaults.
do this by using a pen to press and hold the reset switch inside the small hole on the back or base of the router or switch.
You need to hold the switch in for ten seconds.
The unit will reset and you can then access the management interface using the directions I gave you above..

What is my internet access password

Your internet access password is possibly the one provided by your internet service provider (ISP). The password is usually required together with your 'user name' to access your service provide to you by the ISP.
Without the password, you might still have access to your home wifi network, but would be unable to reach internet services.

Westell 0738 Is my next door neighbors wireless point I can't acess her network it asks for a password..can I get around it? And is there a universal password?? She's old and I bet she don't...

There are no universal password/encryption setting.
Your next door neighbour has protected her wireless network and Internet access from unauthorized access. If she wishes to give you access to her wireless and Internet she would give you the password. That is her choice.

My wireless router keeps losing internet signal and kicking me off the internet. I have to reset the router at least once every 30 minutes. Is this a router problem or a problem with my internet provider?...

I suggest that you try a higher channel, like 11. The neighbors thing is the wireless security portion.
Here are the steps that I think are important:

Wireless Router settings:

It is usually easiest to run the install wizard, which you can get from the manufacturers' website, usually for free, but be sure to be ready to set the items listed below:

To get access, start your browser, and put 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, or other address for your unit, into the ADDRESS bar (not search box) of your Internet Browser. Every unit has unique access login and passwords, some are admin with no password, some are admin and admin...seek access information from the website of the manufacturer of your unit. Look under support, downloads, drivers or similar sounding areas.

Things to set:

(Note: Routers are intended to be set by geeks. You have to SAVE EVERY page before you leave it, or the changes will be lost. A geek knows this (apparently). The router gives no protest...just dumps your changes. SAVE OFTEN.)

1. Login password (RECORD THIS!!). Consider taping to bottom of the router. Physical access is typically NOT the security issue.

2. Set a recognizable system ID (descriptive name is easier to find when you need to connect wirelessly).

3. Invoke wireless security of at least WEP.

a. Assign your own access code, 10 digit home or cell #. Consider taping this information to bottom of the router. (Physical access is usually not the security issue.)

4. Check that your router is set to broadcast its' presence.

5. Change the channel of the wireless to 11, and avoid conflict with landline cordless phones. (Big issue, even the neighbors can interrupt).

There are more secure settings available, all the way down to only allowing certain MAC addresses to have access. A MAC address is a digit unique to each and every network card. Like a fingerprint. Most users do not set mac address limits.

Can i put password on my 802.11n WIRELESS ROUTER?SO THAT MY OTHER NEIGHBORS COULD NOT ACCESS WITH MY INTERNET? HOW WILL I DO IT? PLEASE GIVE ME SOME STEPS..THANK YOU..

As you have not mentioned the make/ model of the router, I will describe the router security in general. First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (written at the back of router) and lookup for the options to do the following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password admin.)
(written at the back of router)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Next step is to secure it:
1. Look out for "Wireless Settings" and select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply

Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

Feel free to contract me for further assistance

How do I lock my Dell TruMobile 2300 wireless router to keep the neighbors from getting access to my wireless internet connection

press win key + r
under run type cmd
on the command prompt type ipconfig
not down your defaut gateway.
type it in your web browser, and then enter the correct user name and password for the router.(i u dont know the user name leave it blank or try admin for both user name and password or its combination o call dell for it)
Create a unique password on your router : Once you have logged into your router, the first thing you should do to secure your network is to change the default password* of the router to something more secure.
This will prevent others from accessing the router and you can easily maintain the security settings that you want. You can change the password from the Administration settings on your router’s settings page. The default values are generally admin / password.
Change your Network’s SSID name:
The SSID (or Wireless Network Name) of your Wireless Router is usually pre-defined as "default" or is set as the brand name of the router (e.g., linksys). Although this will not make your network inherently* more secure, changing the SSID name of your network is a good idea as it will make it more obvious for others to know which network they are connecting to.
This setting is usually under the basic wireless settings in your router’s settings page. Once this is set, you will always be sure that you are connecting to the correct Wireless network even if there are multiple wireless networks in your area. Don’t use your name, home address or other personal information in the SSID name.
This is sufficient to secure your router from other to use it.

Wireless Connection

The WPA code is the password to access the router's network, so it can use your internet connection. As long as the Xbox has both the SSID and the WPA password, it can access the internet through the router.

The SSID ( Chris_PC_Network ) is mostly irrelevant to the network connection, and is purely aesthetical. Its only use is to help users distinguish between different networks (so you don't use a neighbor's network or vice versa).

Computer disconnects from Internet when my neighbor is using his computer

the Lock means that he has a secure network or he has the WAP enabled.. Can the two networks interfere? Yes. The two networks will "fight" over which one will your computer use to connect.. and sometimes you will connect to his network and therefore get no internet or limited connectivity.. You can make sure that your computer only connects to your network by permanently removing his SSID from your settings.
