no one but the technician you get in to diagnose the fault will be able to give you answers to make that decision
with no lights there is no power so the initial indications are that the fix will be less than a new unit
they only become costly it the compressor is unserviceable

Door Latch

Larry, I believe you have to remove the inside door frame cover, starting at the top and working your way down. The cover should snap out and away from the door. Next would be the gasket bracket clips. With a flat tip screw driver insert into the seam between the gasket bracket and the door frame and pry out until the clips snap out. Then proceed to remove the gasket from the channel. Catriver.

My LG fridge model LFC 23760 ST is 1 yr old and has started noises when compressor kicks in. The whirring of the fan has gotten quite loud. Any ideas?

It could be that the cooling area is being restricted by something. Remove the front panel and take a look to make sure everything looks ok. You should have a warranty and I would sure use that before you have more problems...

I have a 13 month old LG fridge model LFC 20745st that just died, no lights nothing. Any ideas? There is power to the outlet.

Recheck your supply outlet carefully. Plug in a high draw load with something like a hair dryer to make sure there is adequate power.
Inspect the power cord of the machine carefully.
Was the machine just moved or did someone roll the refrigerator over the cord ?
Check the condition of the cord carefully. Remove the back cover and follow it up to where it enters the junction box area.

Some household critters love chewing on cords.

The cord itself may be bad. You are not in serious trouble, but need the use of a VOM meter to trace the power.

Calling a service tech who knows LG machines should find the problem with little trouble, and the cost would be minimal.
