I had a similar problem and I had to hold down the center button and the volume down button at the same time for about 10 - 15 seconds until the until powers off. You should be able to turn it back on normally and it should be reset.
Make sure the "lock/unlock" on side is unlocked.Use 2Gig SD card.After disconnecting from computer, turn on by holding the on/off button for a couple seconds. Then press the same button once more to start it playing.
There are several other buttons on the player. Here is what they are.
LOCK- The lock switch will make it so none of the other buttons work. This is good for when the player is in your pocket and you don't want to accidently press buttons.
