Samsung refrigerator defrost sensor code 5 E

This code came up after a short power outage. Can this issue be resolved by unplugging for a little while?

Thank You Erica - There was a brief power outage and we got an error code 5 E - I did what you said (Hold down the top 2 buttons) and it worked! It reset itself! (although the temps were not correct at first but after about 5 or 10 min they defaulted back to our original temp settings.

There are a few reasons this code would appear and although it is unlikely unplugging for a while would fix it, it is worth a go.
It is likely though that you will need an engineer to have a look. It could be ice build up but this in theory should not happen because the defrost sensor should know when the compressor requires shutting off and the heater firing up.
It could be a sensor fault, thermal fuse fault, heater fault (there are two and any one could be faulty) or a controller fault.

SOURCE: After power outage, our Samsung

If the power outtage was less than 10 minutes unplug the unit for 20 minutes. Then attempt to restart the unit. If you have a display and nothing happens press power cool and power freeze for 8 seconds then use the up arrow to cycle through until you get to the final test and it should restart. If you still have the problem after doing the above, respond without rating the post and I wll help you. RS2556 Service manual is publication number SAM0097.pdf and can be found here:

I keep getting the 1E error code on my Samsung Fridge

The "1E" code is an error code that may be displayed on some Samsung refrigerator models. This code indicates that there is a problem with the freezer fan or the freezer fan control board.

If you are getting the 1E code on your refrigerator and the freezer is not freezing properly, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check the freezer temperature. Make sure that the temperature is set correctly and that the freezer is getting cold enough.

Check the freezer fan. Make sure that the freezer fan is running properly and is not obstructed.

Check the freezer fan control board. The freezer fan control board may be faulty and need to be replaced.

Check the wiring. Make sure that all of the wiring is properly connected and secure.

If you are unable to troubleshoot and resolve the issue on your own, you may need to call a technician for professional assistance. It is recommended to unplug the refrigerator before attempting any repairs to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Samsung Cooltech Plus Model SR-L659EVSS

The 'd' error code on your Samsung refrigerator indicates a problem with the refrigerator's defrost system. This could be caused by a number of issues, such as a faulty defrost heater, a faulty defrost sensor, or a problem with the control board.
To troubleshoot the problem, you can try resetting the refrigerator by unplugging it from the wall outlet for at least 5 minutes, then plugging it back in. This will reset the control board and may fix the issue. If the problem persists, you may need to check the defrost heater and sensor to see if they are functioning properly. If they are not, they may need to be replaced.

this is the control board you will need for your model if unplugging the unit for 5 minutes doesn't fix the problem. If they are LED lights, then I point my finger at this. This is a plug and play board with molex connectors. Very easy to install with unit unplugged. You can manually reset the display and check for error codes by holding the top left and top right button on your user interface for 5 seconds in unison FOR 5 or more seconds after all the lights flash.

Samsung Refrigerator

This unit has a history of problems on the refrigerator side. the basic reset is press and hold down the 2 middle buttons on the freezer at the same time. As a general rule the number one problem is in the mother board. usually you can replace it and everything will work.
