Ok,there are a number of screws under the power head unit.Remove them and gently pull off the top.gently remove brush, put new belt on the motor shaft first then put brush nack in position with belt on...Do not tighten up,there should be a little play in the belt.Simply put cover back on ..

Beater bar Belt Removal from Upright Electrolux...

I am trying to change the belt on an Electrolux Model 1717 Upright Vacuum and I am having difficulty disassembling the vacuum to remove the beater bar and belt.
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. . Normally there are screws, clips or levers that would remove the bottom plate or if that does not work then the top cover will come off and that will expose the belt. Once that is off and the belt is exposed then cut off the old belt and then lift up the brushroll on the pulley end and install the new belt around the pulley end and re-install the brushroll. Then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bent right or left end to stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line and reverse you steps in the reinstall of the top cover or bottom plate. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do you remove the bottom of the electrolux model 1572E to replace belt?

the discovery electrolux are different. :)
The top comes off, not the bottom like other vacuums.
After taking the screws out, turn the vacuum on its side (vacuum handle to your left, front of vacuum to your right when looking at bottom).
There are two rectangular holes, one on top above the wheel and one on bottom below the other wheel. Place a flat head screw driver in one of the holes and pry gently, pushing handle of screwdriver toward your right. At same time pull up on top plastic of vacuum. Do the same thing for the other side. Top should come off.
Best to you.

How do you get to the belt. Show me a diagram of it.The belt came off.

A diagram and written instructions are found on pages 10 and 11 of the manual. It's on the below link. Click on "Owner's Guide" just below the vacuum picture on the left side to download and or print the manual.

Can't find the belt # for an electrolux genesis upright, serial number u 75344 p

The best place to get a genuine belt is the local Aerus Electrolux store. They're the only place to get a genuine belt without going on line. Most of their uprights use the same belt, so the store should have it on hand. I do highly recommend allowing their technician to make the switch as the power nozzle can be a bit tricky taking apart and reassembling.
To find the store nearest you, follow the instructions on the following site.

My Electrolux is about 3 years old. Never had any problems with it until recently, it is LOUD. It doesn't seem to make a 'normal' running noise unless it butts up against a wall, furniture, etc. trying to vacuum is like being on a jet runway. Is something clogged? Does it just have issues from not being used for about a year? (Last house had no carpet).

Hello,

It sounds to me that you have a broken fan, in every vacuum I have seen with the loud noise such as you described, it has been a broken fan or fan blade and is in need of replacement. You can try to do it yourself but I suggest going to your local vacuum cleaner dealer for service with the problem. Remember, a suggested belt change if the belt is flat would be 4 to 6 months and If you have a geared belt the belt change would be one year or better depending on wear factor. So, if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
