The TV is in Picture-in-picture mode. The small picture is the last active source. The bigger area is the current source connection, but there's no signal.

Read the manual about how to operate the Picture in Picture feature.

Sanyo DP22640 television that has shrunk on both sides?

If you have already tried replacing the mainboard and it did not fix the issue, then the problem may not be related to the board. Here are a few other potential causes for a TV screen to shrink on both sides:
  1. Picture settings: Check your TV's picture settings to ensure that the aspect ratio is set correctly. If the aspect ratio is set to "zoom" or "wide," it can cause the picture to appear smaller on both sides.
  2. Overscan: Some TVs have a feature called "overscan" that can cause the edges of the picture to be cut off. Check your TV's settings to see if there is an overscan option, and if so, turn it off.
  3. Defective panel: If neither of the above solutions works, it's possible that the issue is with the TV's panel itself. In this case, you may need to have the TV professionally serviced or replaced.
It's also worth noting that shrinking on both sides can sometimes be a normal behavior for certain types of content, such as older movies or TV shows that were originally shot in a different aspect ratio. In this case, the content may simply be displaying as intended.

54" Sony Wega made a loud popping sound and now has Black lines

When I got my new LCD big screen, it had a black line across the entire width. It looked like the screen was pinched.

They claim that it can be repaired but that repair costs as much as a new tv.

My tv was replaced. Hopefully your warranty is still in place to get the unit replaced.

We have sound but no picture on Phillips flatscreen television

Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen when you have sound, look very close, can you see a video image? If so the inverter is probably bad.
Let me know and I will assist further.

Av-32f476 picture shrinkage

I had a Crummy Westinghouse TV that had a problem like this. JVC's are typically better built then a Westinghouse. My first educated guess - sounds like it's a voltage issue, most likely on the high voltage. Probably a capacitor on the power supply side of the motherboard or the capacitor in the flyback transformer. Just and educated guess.
