Scanner Failure HP Photosmart C7200 Series - pop up window: Scanner Failure, Cycle power and try scanning again. First of all whats cycle power? What do I do to fix this? =] weird scanner.

yes it is ,, Once you install the drivers propperly then all the features will be in the toolbar. you can axcessthis tool bar by pressing the copy button on the printer, then you can reduce the image size. Another method is by using the scanner tool bar, aviable in the all programs menu(START / ALL PROGRAMS) once you start the tool bar, simply click copy and folloy the onscreen instructions then set it according to your desire.

Is there any error message displayed on the control panel of the printer just like one of the following:
Scanner failure, power off and on
Scanner System Failure
Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
Scanner failure, cycle power

You may want to try following these steps:
1. Check if the scanner light does turn on when you initiated the scanning process, if not you need to reset the product.
2. Try using your other electrical outlet because your AVR or Surge Extension may not be providing enough voltage for the printer.
3. Try using dirty cycle, meaning you need to directly cut the power of your printer by pulling of the power cord from the rear side of your printer and wait for about 30 seconds before inserting again and turn it on.

If all these steps do not improve your printer functionality, you may want to call the HP online help and ask for replacement.

I request you to remove the power cord of the printer and remove the ink cartridges from the printer and clean the contacts of the ink cartridges.
Then power off the printer and wait for 5 minutes and then reinstall the ink cartridges and then the power cord else please refer the weblink provided below on scanner failure patch.

Try changing the ink cartridges.

If you installed the "HP Support Toolkit" software from the CD-ROM that came with the printer, use this Toolkit to "run a cleaning cycle".
It can print a "test" page, to show you which colours _do_ work, and which do _not_ work.

If all else fails, then find a qualified printer technician.

my scanner alone is not working.is it possible to reinstall the scanner driver seperately
