My head unit(deh-p6450)will not put out any sound

try making sure you don't have a bad (shorted speaker) or any speaker wires that may be grounded to the chassis or have any shorts. it only takes one shorted speaker or speaker wire to shut off the audio completely.

When I put my ipod nano onto an external speaker it won't play through the speaker

If an external speaker doesn't run on the same frequency or level or electric current, the Ipod can't put out enough energy to push it through the speaker. It's like trying to mate a Chihuahua with a Labrador, it just doesn't work.

Speaker problem

Definitely a broken wire. With your eye, follow the wires leading from the contacts (banana jacks?) to the rest of the speaker. Look for any breaks, frays, or other anomalies. If you don't spot something, your choices are limited:
  1. Take the speaker to a speaker repair shop.
  2. Toss it and buy a new one.

HELP ME I NEED TO PUT MY SPEAKER ON

Hello Govany,
You can try a wired headset (Not sure, but think the V3 has a port), or a Bluetooth headset. Once connected either should work around your phones internal speakers issue.
Good luck.

It sounds like you have a broken output filter inductor in the amplifier. You should be aware that the speaker outputs of the amp are biased at ~40v DC and can give a good shock if you touch the speaker wire while you're grounded (touching the body of the vehicle).

When you connected the speaker as you did, I would have expected the speaker to move in or out and remain there while the wire was connected to the housing of the amp. I'll assume that the amp was screwed down to the chassis of the vehicle. If it wasn't, you may have more than one problem.
