SOURCE: Don't know how to light GE Glow-Bar oven

Perhaps the oven ignitor (glow bar) is defective. To test, check the voltage going to the ignitor when you turn on the oven to bake. If you have 110 volts testing with a voltage meter, replace the ignitor. If you do not have voltage, trougleshoot backwards to see where you have voltage in but not out.

If I can help further, I am here.

SOURCE: The lower oven ignighter does not glow

I had the same problem and swapped the oven igniter with the broiler igniter and the oven now works. This proved the oven igniter itself was the fault, now I have to replace the broiler igniter with a new one(which is much easier to get to).

FYI: An igniter may glow red and still not allow the oven to work. The igniter has to draw a certain amount of electrical current for the main gas valve to open.

I am sure you will just have to replace the oven igniter (glow bar) These will crack and not let any power through the oven valve.

Oven does not light igniter glows but no flame

This happens when an oven igniter (glow bar) is bad. The igniter must draw enough amps to turn on the gas to ignite the flame. If you have a square shaped igniter use this part#5303935066 If your have a round shaped igniter use part#wb2x9154. These igniter will pretty much work universally for most gas ranges or ovens.
  1. Remove the racks
  2. Unplug unit
  3. Take out the screw holding the bottom pan
  4. Remove screws holding manifold where igniter is attached
  5. Remove manifold cut wires about 2in link from igniter and clean leads.
  6. Unscrew and remove igniter
  7. Replace Igniter with new one and fasten onto manifold
  8. Clean wires and screw on ceramic nuts to wires
  9. Tuck wires back and Reinstall all components
Test your new igniter. You might notice it taking a little longer to light up but that is okay.
Please let me know if this was helpful by rating me a 4.
Thanks so much have a great weekend.

Oven takes too long to heat up sometimes wont even go to the temperature ignitor is working well can see the glow magic chef model 3488vvv serial 13368882kz

Hello there:
Hi,

When you turn the oven on, open the oven door and look down at the bottom and see if its glowing red, it should glow red for about 45-60 seconds then you should hear the gas ignite. If the gas doesn't ignite, then your igniter glow bar is bad.

Here's the oven glow bar igniter for your model:

Hotpoint oven glowbar not working

My oven glowbar stopped working christmas morning. Yesterday we bought a whirlpool brand (igntr-oven #4342528) because it is twenty something dollars cheaper then GE. My husband installed it today. The only difference is you have to splice the wires (it comes with everthing you need) The first time he put it in it did not work because he had the wires backwards. He switched the wires and now its working fine.
My oven is two years old also.

Broiler works, as do burners. The oven will not come on. Gas whirlpool range 2003 year. Model SF367LEKB

jdelvecchio5Does the igniter (glow bar) come on whenever the bake function is selected.?

If the glow bar does not come on the safety valve will not open - no bake burner. check the electrical harness first then Try changing the igniter (glow bar first) before changing the safety valve/regulator.

Gas stove

The JGRP17 (not a full model number) does not have a pilot light. It uses glow bar ignitors. Watch the burner at the top of your oven when you turn on broil. After a short time the glow bar ignitor begins to glow, and a short time after that the broiler burner should ignite. The same thing should happen with the oven burner under the floor of the oven when you attempt to bake. If the igniter does not glow, or glows and burner does not light, replace ignitor. (looks like part # WB2X9154)
