Could you explain a bit better what you mean with jumping?
It can be just a wrong resolution setting.
If you are in a PC right click on your desktop and choose "change resolution" or something similar to it. then just try diferent resolutions and see if this solves the problem.
On a mac go to "system preferences" and then choose "displays"

What does it mean when the screen of the laptop is jumping, and can it be fixed?

If the screen on your laptop is jumping, this is typically do to a video graphics driver. Try making sure all your drivers are the most up to date. If you are using Windows, go into your device manager, then where the graphics/video drivers section is, highlight and select to update. In the case of Windows, letting them connect and update is typically the most viable option.

My computer screen keeps jumping or won't stay up

Your laptop screen refresh rate is low (Hertz). When your screen refresh rate is slow, it will flicker and stutter.

To fix this, right-click your desktop, and go to Personalize.
When you're there, go to "Display Settings" and go to "Advanced Settings", on the "Monitor" tab you'll see the screen refresh rate. Change it to the highest number you see.( min 65-70)

Although the change will shorten your laptop battery life, it will fix the problem. Just keep your charger on until it's fully charged, and it should be good.

Jumpy splash screen

There are a few reasons why? One the video card is going on the mother board. A loose connection that requires professional attention to check or make sure that the cabling is correct, which requires taking the laptop apart where the power button is located near there as well. BIOS could be going bad or need an update. I would start with inspecting the cable going to the monitor first to make sure it is solid. The laptop I assume works great once it is booted up and running. If this is not the case and you still getting periodic splash screen jumping then it would be the video card. This is why it is a great idea to purchase a laptop cooling fan while in use. John

My screen jumps up and down? I've spent a small fortune on software and was sugested on buying, find drivers software. Why can't they just fix the problem without bleeding me dry?

What exactly do you mean by screen jumps up and down.

Can you exactly tell me if the screen behavior is same when you power up your laptop, Also what happens when you go in BIOS mode.

If screen is fine in BIOS mode, then let me know the model no of your laptop & OS you are using.

Screen jumps back to prior screen

If you mean to say that the computer-generated displayed image on your screen changes, it's a function of the computer, not the monitor. If you mean to say that some monitor-generated displayed image is appearing (such as a setup/configuration menu or a splash screen), please tell us more so we can diagnose further.

Dell Lattitude D800 with screen issue

This is either a loose data cable on the main board connection or the connection to the screen has shifted. The first is a easy fix and the second usually isn't. If you have bumped it or dropped it you can cause this. My hunch is it is the display but you can check to make sure.

If you tap along side the display while it has a image you may see it jump or even clear up with every tap. If it does that means it is definnitly the display.

If you tap on the bottom about where to the top edge of the keyboard ends towards the left side that is about where the connector is located. If it jumps or changes when you tap its your connector.

If tapping in either place does nothing then I would suspect the problem is in the display itself and will most likely require replacement. If it apears to be the connector the laptop needs to be partially disassembled and the connector reseated. That usually fixes the connector caused problem.

Toshiba screen

There is a remote possibility that the cord connecting from the mainboard to the lcd has jumped of it's socket. It would mean opening the laptop, but worth the try.
If that is not the problem, you will need a new computer.
