I have your suggestion at least 4 times. I bought the drill in Sept/08. It was only used to put up my curtain rods and hooks. I followed the instructions in the manual. And I used to have a Dewalt 12v drill and new when the problem arised after the 2nd use I knew to run the battery down and then fully recharge. I do thank you for your tip though.I have your suggestion at least 4 times. I bought the drill in Sept/08. It was only used to put up my curtain rods and hooks. Is your ryobi 18V battery is a Li-ion battery? if so you can store it with 40% power and keep it clean, cool, and dry. Then every 1-2 month to charge and discharge the battery for once time.
More battery tips or batteries and chargers for cordless tool you can come here:
Generally, When your have the 18V milwaukee drill, you had better to use the same voltage battery charger to charge the battery. it will be more safe. John. http://www.anybatteries.com.au/battery-model.php/Power-Tools-Battery_milwaukee.html
If you keep trying to charge it, it might do so. If this pack is still under warranty, get it replaced. If it is on your dollar, you can get the pack rebuilt with new cells for roughly $40 to $50 at: www.primecell.com I had a Skill drill pack rebuilt with Lithium ion cells that have half again the original charge longevity. Hope this helps!
Does the battery still charge?? The reason I ask is that some tool mfr's are starting to play with the chargers. Insert the battery and remove within 5 seconds and reinsert and then does the noise go aaway or change? Makita has started doing this and also some others. If the battery charges I wouldn't worry too much but try the above method and see.
