I have a durabrand 18v cordless drill and have only charged the battery twice now it will not keep a charge and the battery gets hot.

  • wyldezoey Jul 02, 2009

I have your suggestion at least 4 times. I bought the drill in Sept/08. It was only used to put up my curtain rods and hooks. I followed the instructions in the manual. And I used to have a Dewalt 12v drill and new when the problem arised after the 2nd use I knew to run the battery down and then fully recharge. I do thank you for your tip though.

Run the battery all the way down until it's dead. Then fully recharge. Do this at least twice.

Generally, When your have the 18V milwaukee drill, you had better to use the same voltage battery charger to charge the battery. it will be more safe.

Battery started smoking during charging. Smoke was puffing out from time time. Can these battery explode?

If you keep trying to charge it, it might do so. If this pack is still under warranty, get it replaced. If it is on your dollar, you can get the pack rebuilt with new cells for roughly $40 to $50 at: www.primecell.com
I had a Skill drill pack rebuilt with Lithium ion cells that have half again the original charge longevity. Hope this helps!

My AEG BL9618 battery charger has started to chirp(beep) is this a fault signal as the user manual is pretty thin on troubleshooting

Does the battery still charge?? The reason I ask is that some tool mfr's are starting to play with the chargers. Insert the battery and remove within 5 seconds and reinsert and then does the noise go aaway or change? Makita has started doing this and also some others. If the battery charges I wouldn't worry too much but try the above method and see.
