Uniden troubleshooting Hi there, I just need some help setting up this phone as a landline extension in an office. I've unplugged the old phone and plugged this nice new one into the same socket and with the new phone there's no dialtone, just a lot of static. The power is plugged in and the headset is fully charged at this point. The old phone was working fine. Do you know how to have this phone access the landline?

Was the old phone connected to a Private Automatic Branch Exchange P.A.B.X like for example a comander system if so the new phone would have to be a PABX type phone extention type. I suspect the Uniden phone is not compatible with the PABX extension socket.

I do not know what phone system you are using you might want to find out the model number of your PBX device and research if it uses VOIP = I can only guess that this is the situation

SOURCE: Headset has static

Perform a reset on the headset.  Hold down the mute button (the dial on the back of the headset needs to be pushed straight in), and at the same time hold down the call answer button until you see the green light on the headset blink a few times.  Release both the mute button and the call answer button.  See if it works now.  If it doesn't, try a re-subscription (should be available in the manual).

SOURCE: Plantronics cs50 head set with lifter has STATIC

Try a system reset:
1.  Lift the headset off of the charging cradle, but make sure the headset is turned off.  It will be off if the green light on the front of the base is not lit.  If it's not, push the call answer button once to turn it off.
2.  Push the call answer button and the mute button at the same time and hold them down.  The mute button is the black little wheel at the top of the headset.  Use the tip of your finger to push it straight down and hold it while holding the call answer button.  A green light on the headset will flash for 2 series of flashes.  Wait until the end of the second series then let go of both buttons.
3.  Put the headset back on the charging cradle and wait 30 seconds.  Lift it back up and try to use it.  If this doesn't work, repeat one more time and then disconnect the power from the base and plug it back in.

SOURCE: When I am talking to someone on the phone i get a lot of static.

see what TTY mode your phone is in. TTY mode is under call settings or go to voice command and say TTY mode. I keep mine off. This mode is for people who are deaf, and people who are hard of hearing and use hearing aids.

My uniden phone is not working. All hand sets say Check Tel Line. Will not make or receive calls. Will a dead battery in one handset make all handsets malfunction? Are batteries available?

batteries are available from e-bay
one dead battery will not affect any others
all hand sets make calls and receive calls through the base unit that is connected to the landline
base unit is connected to the landline and operates any hand set that is picked up
make sure all handsets have the end call button pressed as one not pressed after use may keep a line open
call your provider to check the land line to your premises
borrow a neighbours phone and plug it into the socket and see it you get a line on their phone

Landline phone constant busy signal

should you dial 9 or another access code for outside calls?

If if you dial an "outside" number on an intercom line it will look at the first 2-3 digits as another extension. You need to dial the Central Office access code, or use a line key assigned to an outside line.

I have a check tel line on phone what do I do?

First. you have to use a known good phone to check and make sure you have dail tone at the phone jack ,if you do you could try unplugging phone from electric and wait aminute or 2 the plug it back in. If the base unit is working and the extension is not ,take the hand set and set it in the charger for the base unit it will reset the extension

Hello. Can I make the Extension Numbers stay with the phone jack instead of the phone? For example I got a new phone and moved the old one to another office and it still wants to keep the old extension...

Of course it's possible, however, you need to turn off Auto Set Relocation. I'm not sure if it's an Administrator or only an Installer function.

There is a trick....and I've never tried it because I HATE ASR, if you unplug the old phone, move it to the original location, and wait at least 5 minutes, then unplug it from the original location and plug in the NEW phone before you plug in the phone you just unplugged, the new phone will become the old extension and your original phone will be unprogrammed. It also says you have to wait at least one minute before you can change the DN of a new phone, but that requires INSTALLER access.

Like I said......

Try phoneing or e mailing the number or e mail address on the box or manual of the phones where you bought them from or get in touch with the company that made them and ask for either a refund or technical help. If your landline is working the storm has disconnected something with the base of your phones
