I had the same problem with a card in my power shot A540. on the side of the card there is a little white slide-bar. Push that bar the opposite direction of where it is and see if that works. Good luck!

SOURCE: I have message 'card locked'

There's a little white tab on the card that slides into "locked" or "unlocked" so you can save your pics. Pull the card and take a good look to be sure the tab is in the correct "unlocked" position.

SOURCE: canon powershot A540 digital ...problem it shown card locked

Remove the SD card from the camera. Look for the tiny slide switch on the side of the card. Slide this switch back to the unlocked position (opposite of whatever its at now).

SOURCE: card locked

Have you tried looking at the memory card? Sometimes there is a switch on the card itself that slides up and down to lock, or unlock the card for usage. Hope this helps! (It should be white, and a semi-translucent plastic.)

SOURCE: Card locked

there is a little switch on the left side of SD cards; if it's down, your card is locked and you cannot copy anything on it or delete anyfile, also you cannot take any picture by it. so you have to change the switch postion. just this! I hope this helps...

Memory card locked

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

The memory card of my canon ixus 95IS locked how can i unlock?

Hello,
The Canon PowerShot SD1200 uses SD and SDHC cards. These cards have a small plastic slider on the front of the card that will lock/unlock the card.

See the example below:
kytechnology_5.jpg

Slide the lock switch in the opposite direction.

Please let me know if I can further assist you.

Regards,

Camera says card is locked canon powershot sx100

"Card is locked" usually means that the little write protect switch on an SD card has been set to stop the card being written to. Seems unlikely that it would happen to two cards in a row, but it is worth checking this.

My canon powershot SD500 elph's card is locked..one solution someone suggested was to slide the little slider on the side of the card. This card doesn't have that. I put these pictures to my computer but...

Maybe you could try to format the card in the camera. If that doesn't work, try formatting it in the computer. (The card alone, not the camera connected to the computer) Otherwise I think it's broken. Do you use a micro/mini SD adapter? If the contact is bad, it may tell you "Memory card error" and "card locked" at the same time. Check the contact.

For the Canon PowerShot A550, card is locked

Pop the card out of the camera- there's a tiny switch on the card that locks it so you can't write over important photos.  Move the switch to the other position and you should be good.
