SOURCE: heater will not ignite

The sensor that allows the pilot to ignite is at fault
replace the probe that points at the pilot light which is the sensor

SOURCE: i have a 250SX aquastar bosch tankless hot water

The 250 MUST have the condensate line connected. EC comes from gas supply problems and CO2 levels not being adjusted. LP units require 3/4" smooth gas pipe or 1" corrugated pipe minimum size. The LP regulator needs to be turned up to about 13 inches of water column and with all the gas appliances on, measure no less than 11 inches of water column. The CO2 levels must be measured by a qualified gas technician with a calibrated (with in 6 months) CO2 analyzer.

Question posted under Bosch tankless.
Question says 'tank'
Brand, model, and type heater unknown.
Elements mean electric.
'Thermal cutout pops when taking shower produces cold water' indicates tankless, since tank-type would maintain some hot water.
No error code might indicate tank-type.
Add a comment with type, brand and model number of heater for possible assistance.

Replaced thermocouple on Bosch TF250. Now the pilot flame is so big that it heats and boils the water in the heat exchanger when hot water is not required. When we turn the tap on, we get dirty water,...

Before calling service technician, open follow links for troubleshooting resources.
Bosch site does not show TF250, but shows 250SX and 250SXO.

At no time when visiting tankless website have I read suggestion that people fix tankless as a do-it-yourself project. In fact each site says repeatedly to call service technician for installation and repairs.
When reading service bulletins, the repair protocols are generally long and very sequential, even if a thermocouple seems straightforward there are many interrelated parts and sensors that must communicate exactly with each other.
Example: following pdf outlines operation sequence for non-standing pilot model
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Tankless-gas-operation-overview.pdf

The dirty water also suggest that tankless has not gotten regular maintenance that is required for continued operation. Tankless are not install-it-and-run-flawless-for-years type of machine.
Read manual for specific maintenance required for your model. For example yearly flushing the heat exchanger with vinegar to avoid lime build-up is suggest most models. Tankless are succeptible to lime build-up.
All costs are energy. Maintenance alone can easily eat up the promised $1-8 monthly savings from tankless vrs tank-type water heater. One service call can wipe away years of expected savings, plus replacement part can sometimes cost as much as whole new tank-type water heater, installed.

250sx quit working. Gas o.k. water flow good, throws ea code after 3 start attempts. 1. where is the ionization electrode, and is the fan supposed to come on before ignition? Fan comes on afterea code....

The gas pressure must be increased at the regulator from 9 inches of water column to about 12.5-13 inches of water column. The CO2 levels need to be adjusted for each installation. The air intake MUST come from outside the same wall as the exhaust. I have never seen any manufactures tankless unit installed properly. Plumbers do not read the manual.
