There is a switch in the control box that locks out the start unless you are in neutral. Open the box and put in a new switch, this is a safty device to keep it from starting in forward and throwing you out of the boat. Jim OMC retired Mech

In the hub of the propeller is a rubber bush that stops damage to the shafts and g/box if something is struck with the prop. These bushes do give way and are repairable.See your local boat shop or look for a specialist propeller shop.Probably the latter as the boat shops sends the props to them anyway. Its called the propeller hub bush or just the prop bush.Just take the prop into them and all will be good.Hope this helps you

Look on the side, of the lower end, (dirveshaft housing) for a small cover, with usually two screws holding it on. Then underneath the cover there is a fitting that connects the linkage. Put a mark with a magic marker on the linkage rod to remember where they line up. Put the motor in neuteral, (not running) and loosen the fitting, it should all seperate after that.
