There is a switch in the control box that locks out the start unless you are in neutral. Open the box and put in a new switch, this is a safty device to keep it from starting in forward and throwing you out of the boat. Jim OMC retired Mech

In the hub of the propeller is a rubber bush that stops damage to the shafts and g/box if something is struck with the prop. These bushes do give way and are repairable.See your local boat shop or look for a specialist propeller shop.Probably the latter as the boat shops sends the props to them anyway. Its called the propeller hub bush or just the prop bush.Just take the prop into them and all will be good.Hope this helps you

SOURCE: Johnson 2 cyl 50 hp gearbox removal help!

Look on the side, of the lower end, (dirveshaft housing) for a small cover, with usually two screws holding it on. Then underneath the cover there is a fitting that connects the linkage. Put a mark with a magic marker on the linkage rod to remember where they line up. Put the motor in neuteral, (not running) and loosen the fitting, it should all seperate after that.

1957 johnson outboard 10 hp fuel mixture ratio

https://www.google.com/search?q=1957+johnson+outboard+10+hp+fuel+oil+ratio

What is the mix ratio for a Johnson outboard motor?

Any Johnson outboard motor built since 1964 requires a 50/1 fuel ratio. Motors built prior to that date require a 32/1 ratio, with the exception of a few fishing motors built prior to 1955 that use a 16/1 ratio.

My johnson 50 when in the up position it slowy goes down and there no oil leaks ps how much tilt fluid should be in it tilt cheers michael

Have a bad check valve somewhere in the system allowing pressure to bleed backwards through the system, should be able to hear it when the bucket is up in the air turn off the tractor and listen closely to the lines for a slight whining sound from the fluid leaking when it should be sealed

What is the gas mixture for a 9R-70C?

What a neat little fisher motor. All needle bearing motor so you can run it on 50/1 --would use synthetic for the best operation. Take care of that starter spool- slowly engage the plastic gear to the flywheel before you pull the starter for the start.

Tilt trim go up wont go down 2003 johnson 140 hp 4 stroke

You may want to check service bulletin #2002-052. Some of these motors supply too much voltage to the trim switch at the throttle lever and that trim switch stops working. There is an add-on harness #586806 that fixes this. If you can still tilt and trim the motor at the trim switch that is built into the motor housing this is likely the problem.

The trim/tilt on my 97 Johnson 150 outboard is not moving. Tilt motor runs. Some time ago my mechanic told me not to run the tilt all the way to the top, which is, I think, what happened. Any ideas on...

Make sure there is not a spring loaded locking lift latch engauged. If there is you will see a little movement and then the motor will sound slower. If there is no movement and the motor runs the same speed with no change you are low on hydraulic tilt and trim fluid.

Please take a moment and rate my answer............ Thanks
