Why won't my hotpoint dishwasher draing the water?

Are we talking a lot or a little? If the unit is not draining at all then there might be something stuck in the drain pump impellor stopping it from turning at all, or stopping it running as quickly as it should so doesn't drain all the water. Is the drain outlet too high? This can cause the drain pump to struggle to reach the head height, also, water can run back from the drain pipework if blockage or height too high

Dishes not cleaning after full cycle running

Your screens are plugged with food residue in the bottom of the unit. clean it out. You can use 1 gallon of white vinegar for your wash after you clean the screens. Start your washer to fill with water but after the water starts, open your door and pore all of the gallon in the unit. Let it now run for 4 minutes and stop it by opening the door. Leave the door slightly open for 1 hour. close the door and let the cycle continue for 4 more minutes. open the door and repeat it a couple of more times. Let it sit all night with the vinegar in it and in the morning - close the door and let the cycle continue to the end. This should help soften and clean out the food particles in the unit. You can repeat the process and get a better cleaning then too. All the scale should be off your dishes now.

Upper tray dishes are not cleaned(washed) the bottom are OK, why?

replace the washer water from bottom of the unit up to the top arm water feed assy, they get worn and water leaks by the hub arm that pressurizes the upper wash arm, this is also true on the center arm if the washer has one

Poor cleaning leaving deposits, dishes feel dirty

The problem for the spots is hard water. There is a new product out at www.dishwasherfilter.com that solves this problem once and for all. It is a small filter that goes under the sink and filters out the hard minerals that cause these spots from the water before they enter the dishwasher. It is very affordable (like 70 bucks) and even has a money back guarantee. After just one load you will be amazed how your dishes look.

Dish drawer leaks Fisher Paykel

When water accumulates in the bottom it triggers an error code and it keeps running. There is a water sensor in the bottom. I pull out the bottom drawer, mop up the water and use a hair dryer to dry the water (the more you mop up the less you need the hair dryer). Be careful to not get any of the plastic too hot. Kill the power before messing with the unit. The first time I did this it took 20 minutes to dry out. I have gotten more proficient and it take about 5 minutes now.

I had a water leak which was due to the rinse agent cap not being completely sealed. Water leaked out of a small hole in the front (I'm guessing an air vent but don't know for sure) and flooded the bottom.

I also had a leak due to having too tall a dish in the drawer and the top not sealing. I currently have a leak on the top drawer of unknown origin, but the bottom drawer still works.
Hope this helps.

White film on dishes

Experience : 30 years in dish washing as a professional instructing hospitals and restaurants.
It is not necesaasry to cover the heating element as long as sufficient water is present so as to not STARVE the water pump.
Listen to the sound of water serging with the machien running. If it is contant you have enough water if the sound comes and goes then the pump is serging . either lyou have a low water level or CLOGGED strainer in the bottom of the machine (inside).

you might also open the door real fast during the wash and check for water splashing and flows---- you might get wet but this way works .(wear protective eye shields)

water levels can be raised by BENDING the tab on the bottom of the float which controls water level...much like a toilet tank float.
Also finally if soap levels are too high the soap will not rinse off regardless of the amount of "rinse fluid you use.
