My solution was to open the MP Navigator application and then click the preferences at the top right. There is a product name dropdown. In my case the incorrect MAC address was chosen (denoted by "Network:XXXXXXXXXXX"). Once I chose the other address it worked perfectly.

Hi, The scanning unit is independent from printing unit. You can scan even with empty ink cartridges. At sametime, if you wanna copy documents, you need both scanning and copying units to work. Try reinstalling the Driver from the provided driver CD.

right click my computers click properties then hardware and device manager scan for hardware changes then it will come in ? this mark right click that update driver insert the cd and click next .search in the cd name in xp it will come in G drive.
my MP 160 cannot scan to pc, but can print and photocopy well. it says
it cannot communicate with scanner..cable might be disconnected or
scanner might be off..tried uninstalling and reinstalling..still
doesn't work
