How to reset the dvd tray on a sylvania dvc850c

The tray will not stay closed. Regardless of having a disc in or not it will close for a moment and then open again. Staying in open position. I have cleaned the lenses that I can see with the top off but would prefer to not take it apart. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: Sylvania DVC850C DVD Player

Sometimes the mechanism that spins the disk does not go up or down all the way then when it tries to eject its not all the way in idle. Could be from heat With it unplugged try and tip it upside down, maybe that will let the mechanism go back to its resting position so you can get it out. Reguardless it sounds like there is a problem that needs looked at inside the unit.

SOURCE: dvd tray will not stay closed. opens and shuts randomly

i had exactly the same problem on a LG-RH278H resp. a Medion MD 81733. I solved it by opening the micoswitches, cleaning the contacts and streching the springs inside the switches a little. The Problem was, that one of the microswitches stayed conductive even when it was off/open.9acead3.jpg

SOURCE: My JVC DR-M70 dvd recorder tray won't close.

Sorry for the delay in following up. My tray problem appears to be resolved, but I wanted to wait a few days to see if the problem returned.

After reading several suggestions on various sites for other makes and models, I started experimenting to see if any would work on my machine. I made several failed attempts before hitting on the right sequence of steps. To the best of my memory, THIS is what finally worked for me:

1) I gently pushed the tray back to it's closed position (note: the solution did not work during previous attempts when I left the tray open)
2) I unplugged the machine for 30 seconds,
3) holding down the remote's open/close button, I plugged the machine back in and immediately pressed the stop button on the player, holding both buttons down for 30 seconds.
4) I unplugged the player AGAIN for 30 seconds, then plugged it back in.

A MIRACLE! Upon hitting the open/close button on the remote, this time the tray opened exactly as it should, and it's been behaving itself ever since. I don't know if any of the steps I performed were unneccesary. All I can tell you is that every time I left out a step, it failed. The first time I followed every step, I had success.

As for my remote: I put in fresh batteries. The open/close button still occasionally tells the tray to open and close simultaneously. tvdokter has suggested cleaning it on the inside, but unfortunately, I only see one screw (inside the battery compartment.) I can't see how to get in without breaking it. Oh well, at least I'm back to be able to play and record my dvds.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I hope this solution will be helpful to someone else down the line. If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free.

Hi i have pyle pltsn74 is slip in a dvd disc an it was working when i ejected the disc it stayed in side an tray error came up on the screen i push the reset button an it did not work i carefully open it...

Disconnect the power to the unit; perhaps pulling the radio fuse out - in the fusebox. Then put the fuse back in because you've got to reset the error.

Power does not stay on.

check and replace caps in the power supply as they maybe leaking causing the voltages thought the unit to be unstable.

Disc tray won't stay closed.

I fixed this by jerking the tray gently. Someone jammed my tray and it skipped a few gear teeth. It seemed like the machine couldn't pull it in far enough to reach its preset position. So I let it close and when it was almost closed, I gently jerked it out to skip the gear teeth back into alignment. It is kind of tricky because the motor will just reverse instead of skipping teeth (you'll hear the plastic clicking when it skips). Perhaps unplug it and slowly push it in manually then **** it back out softly. Just be gentle. Good luck.

Lg rc797t dvd drawer will not close consistently

I have a Compaq Presario desktop running XP Media Center. The DVD tray would open on power up, and kept openinig when pushed shut.

I discovered that the tray would frequently remain closed when I held open the flap (the flap with the open button). A few days after discovering this, I got to add some more tracks to my MP3 player - I only mention this intermediate stage in case it is material in curing the problem, as the next thing that happened was a power failure whilst the PC was on. Since then, the CD/DVD drive has behaved perfectly. I did have a temporary problem with AVG INternet Security being unable to load the necessary DLLs to run correctly in MS Outlook 2003, even complaining of a corrupt installation, but this dissappeared after a proper restart and AVG update.

So,
Compaq users: try holding the flap open when you attempt to close the tray.
Generally: with PC running and all applications closed, switch the power off at the wall socket.

Tray will not stay closed

This fault usually happens if the disc being read is not compatible with the player's firmware.
If discs are burnt from a computer, or copies, this can happen.
Does it do this with all DVD's?
Are you using commercial retail DVD's?
Otherwise something else is telling the player 'No Disk'.
Try a disc-based lens cleaner as laser may be grubby.
Or the laser diode could be defective.

Tray confused

I have an LG DVD player and recorder model # RC7423W and i have a similar problem, when i open up the disk tray it displays open and the tray opens for 2 seconds only and then closes. when i press the open/close button to open it again it opens and never closes back with a "Disc Error" on display until i close it manually by pushing it back inside.
I cleaned it from dust many times and tried to reset it but no reset button. i just tried to unplug the wire and plug it back.
let me know if there is a way that i can reset the hardware or a solution to my problem. my system is around one year old
