Make sure you have not pressed the little button right above the mouse pad that toggles between locking the mouse pad or freeing the mouse pad.

Curser will not move

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

If you are using the touch pad and the cursor will not move, you may want to try and use a mouse. The touch pad on your computer may have worn out. If the mouse works, it may be your pad.

Please check to make sure that touch pad button is on. If the mouse will not move the cursor, your drivers may have been corrupted and you have to download new drivers after uninstalling the old one. Which one you download will depend on what type of computer you have.

Thank you for asking FixYa!

Cursor jumping, pages scrolling on own

bad mouse action , no other words need be said just that.
NO OP SYS STATED BY YOU< XP?
if the mouse is a wireless mouse, the battery is dead.
if the 1 mouse is wired it is bad.
if there are 2 mice connected , shut one down 2mice not allowed.

if the mouse pad is enabled then that is 2 mice if usb mouse used.
and not ever good to do that,

Mouse laptop not working

Touchpads have a cursor lock that suspend the use of the touch pad but allow you to use a mouse. Ensure that the cursor lock is not on. That lock is a thin strip just about the touch pad. Usually, it will light up when it's turned on. If you have that lock in the off position then I would not recommed that you go probing inside your laptop to relsove this issue. You should take your laptop to a qualified tech for repair. That laptop has to be disassemble to resolve any physical problem with the touch pad. You will overwhelm yourself with all the little pieces of computer parts and create a larger and more costly problem for yourself.

My toshiba laptop cursor doesnot move when i touch the tray pad

Hi!

I had the same problem after my fat cat sat on my keyboard. This is how I fixed it. At the top of the keyboard there is a F9 key. If you look closely at this key, it also has two pictures of the mouse pad. This key is a toggle that turns the mouse pad on and off. Down near the lower left corner of the keyboard is a key marked FN. Hold down the FN key and press the F9 key. That will turn the mouse pad back on.

Mouse moves on its own

Your palm might be brushing on the touch pad while you are typing that is probably why the cursor jumps to a different location. as for disabling the touch pad I think that it is not possible unless you install a synaptics driver for your laptops touch pad.
