To open a Panasonic MC 6220, pull quite firmly (but not enough to break it) on the vertical wine molded handle on the front of the vacuum cleaner. It sits between the 3 power selections buttons, and the window that shows how full the bag is. It takes a U3 bag - remove the orange/red mounting bracket from the wall of the vacuum, and then from the bag itself. Make sure you mount it properly on both (and the bottom of the bag so it fills completely) to avoid any dust leaking out. Good luck! This is a fabulous vacuum and lasts a long time, if you maintain it.

Check the sole plate where the roller brush is. There may be an obstruction leading from the sole plate to the main dirt channel. Usually on many Panasonic uprights the main dirt channel is a removable bent plastic tube before it meets the bottom of the hose. Check to see if this isn't obstructed. ALso check your filters on the vacuum as sometimes a blocked filter means a lack of suction.

SOURCE: vacuum was closed without the bag now I can't open the compartment

After trying many things, I was finally able to open the stuck cup by:

  • Opening the latch as much as possible by hand
  • Sticking a flathead screwdriver in the opening and pushing. See picture below.

There was just a small bit of plastic holding the thing shut so this was enough to deform it and open it without damaging anything (at least for me).

I have no idea why they have designed the cup in this foolish way. Maybe it's an attempt to protect the motor etc, but it would be better to have a sensor or something and not let the motor run instead of getting the cup stuck. Also, I think the cup is supposed to not be closable without the filter in place, but for me it was surprisingly easy to close it in this incorrect fashion.

Where are screws located that access main motor compartment in panasonic canister MC-V9647? Something is rattling inside and smells hot. Belt or motor?

If the model is the same as pictured, the screws should be visible.
If the model is older like I think it is, the screws are going to be a tad tough to get to, but not impossible.

First you will need to take the bag door off. Open it like you would to change the bag and then push the bag door back farther so that the hinges "pop" out. Generally how i do it is put it on the counter, with the bag facing you, open as far as you can, grab the top portion of the bag door and push it back quickly.

Now, when the bag door is off, with a flat screw driver, the colored housing above the gray bumper will come off. insert the flat screwdriver in there and pry it open a touch. do that to the other side as well. Once both sides are open, you want to slide the screwdriver towards the back of the unit and gently pry the back off.

under there you will find 2 screws (if you need to go that far at this point) and you can remove the back of the unit easily.

Good luck,
Mark

Panasonic MC-E468 vacuum cleaner loss of suction

HI If the cleaner is loosing suction make sure to check all inspection tubes and the dirt channel hoses after the spinning brush. Also check the main hose for any clogging. One of the worst faults of this model is clogging hoses. Hope that helps you.

Filters for panasonic vacuum cleaner MC-E468

Hi! Sometimes really hard to remember which of these models is which, so please forgive me if this is not a complete solution.  I'm pretty sure you will find there are two filters.  The first is a foam filter, and is located at the bottom of the bag compartment.  It pulls out to the front, and is washable (of course it must be completely dry before re-use).  The second (and here I'm on less secure ground) is a HEPA filter, and is located behind a removable panel on the front of the bag compartment door.  The HEPA filter is not washable, but rarely if ever needs to be changed unless the machine has been used for vacuuming a lot of extremely fine dust. I hope this helps, and I value your feedback. Please remember to rate my response.  Good luck!
