This error comes up if you have replaced the branded drive with an oem one, the original drive is watermarked and the OEM one is not, the restore disks look for this watermark, and will not install if it cannot find it, it then gives you the error above

what do you do fix problem

what did OP do to fix his problem 4 years ago. I bet he forgot would not you?
    The PO
never once told what PC it is,
Pavilion means nothing at all; service tag tells all.
    NO OS stated (w95 to w10 ? and 32 or 64bit?
no source of OS new install stated.
there for there is no answer possible.

My wild guess is W7, (xp is hopeless)
    W7 comes in vast forms.
The official ISO from MS.com (now)$120 cost.
the store off the shelf DVD in the blue box.
    ($120 again)
OEM w7 from HP for the right PC or the wrong PC. easy to get wrong and never sold by HP after the 3 year rule ended.

W7 ISO burned to USB stick
or w7 from torrents or illegall(sic) web sites.
or your burned the MS.com ISO to DVD-R disk.
    endless really wrong installers.

    4001100200001005 ( HP told me)
means you used HP F11 OS recovery method
an this code means your HDD was cloned illegally(sic)
this is by design copy protection feature here. (watermarked , sans H20) LOL

Files copy errors during the XP installation process are often an indication of BAD RAM.

If you have dual RAM modules, try install with 1 memory module installed

SOURCE: Re-installing operating system

If you boot to the CD (on boot with the CD in the drive you should get a screen with the option to boot to the CD, if your boot order in your BIOS is set to CD ROM before Hard Drive), you should (after loading files for a while) get to a screen that will allow you to select the drive/partition to install to. If trying to install from within the Windows environment it won't happen.

Wanneer ik herstelschijven in pc steek krijg ik na een tijdje de foutmelding fout 0x4001100200001005.is er iemand die mij kan helpen

I'm sorry I cant speak dutch. Use this if cant follow english too well. https://translate.google.com/#nl/en/

I got this from an hp support forum:

"you get a 0x400 error is because the OEM hard drive was replaced with a retail hard drive. OEM drives are "tattooed" or branded.. and the recovery media will search for it before installing. Prevents the spread (aka pirating) of OEM recovery media to computers that it did not ship with."

Look under the laptop to find out which version of windows you have.
get a COPY of that operating system and install it. Activate the operating system with the product key which you will again find under the laptop.

Error code 0x4001100200001005

"error 0x4001100200001005 if problems persists contact Dell support"
The reason you get a 0x400 error is because the OEM hard drive was replaced with a retail hard drive. OEM drives are "tattooed" or branded.. and the recovery media will search for it before installing. Prevents the spread (aka pirating) of OEM recovery media to computers that it did not ship with.

I got the same error when restoring an Inspiron 2330 Touch using the DVDs I created when the system was new.
In my case I had to boot to a Windows OS DVD, go into recovery console and open DISKPART
Perform the following steps to wipe the disk:
In recovery console, type DISKPART
At the diskpart prompt, type LIST DISK
Note the number of the disk you want to restore the OS to
Type SELECT DISK 0 (0 or whatever the number of the disk is)
It will say "Disk 0 is the selected disk"
Type CLEAN
When it finishes, exit, and retry the restoration.

After having gone through this issue and come out the other side (With no help from Support at all, as they are quite clueless on this issue and will ALWAYS blame the Recovery Media AND the HD and not their WinPE recovery mechanism which is flawed.

When i start up my dell laptop it says disk erro so i preesed diagnose and it said error code 2000-0146 how can i fix this?

Two possible causes
  • Hard drive itself is bad (If this is the case you will need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the OS and any software)
  • You have a nasty bootsector virus (Format the drive and reinstall the operating system and any software)
Try to format and reinstall the operating system and if it works great if not then you know the hard drive needs to be replaced.

Comment back if you need more help.

I want to replace hard disk of my presario v6700, which has a buitin recovery disk from the company. i made recovery disks already. but when i want to install windows from the recovery disk on the new hard...

This error is when you try to use OEM recovery disks with a non OEM hard drive. The company recovery disks will not work, they do this to prevent software fraud. Sorry to say you will have to purchase a copy of windows and start over :(

MY PS3 HAS STOPPED PLAYING GAMES NOW I TRY TO LOAD A GAME THIS ERROE COMES UP 80010514

Either a) a faulty sector on the internal hard drive, or b) a faulty installation of software/firmware.

These are both serious issues that are permanent. A factory reset may help but is unlikely.

Error code 0146

Alot of times when Dell replaces a hard drive, its usually one thats been refurbished and NOT brand new. Since you have been definitely been having issues with more then one of there hard drives, defiinitely call them back and have them walk you thru all the steps to verify and the once they verify it tell them because you have had lots of problems with hard drives in that unit to please make sure to ask that a BRAND NEW one is installed instead of a REFURBISHED one.

Hopefully they will do this seeing as how there has been lots of problems. Hope this info helps.
