How do you change the cord on a b and d strimmer
Hi, W/D here.
Pull the spool straight off, out of the head. Look at the bottom of the spool, you'll see arrows indicating the direction that the line should be wound. Now, look at the spool. You'll see that there are actually two spools, made together. In the middle part of each spool, you'll see a small hole. There should also be a notch in between the two spools.
OK. Starting with the inner spool, insert your line into the hole about 1/8", and wind in the direction of the arrows. When you have wound the line to the diameter of the divider between the spools, stop. There is a very small notch on the bottom of the spools that is 180 degrees from the notch in between the spools, and at the bottom edge of the spool that you are winding. Click your line into that notch. Leave about 6" of line out past the notch, and cut it off from the pack of line that you are winding from. Now, wind the outer spool the same way. When full, you'll guide your line thru the notch between the spools and into the small notch at the bottom of the inner spool. Leave another 6" tail, and cut it off.
Take the two tails of line while holding the spool, and insert one into each grommet on the machine head. Align the line notches with the grommets, and press the spool into place. You should feel it click into place. Now, you want to tug on the line tails to pull them out of the notches. You're done!
I have one final bit of advice, and you don't have to do it this time...just keep it in mind... The head will sometimes be stubborn in dispensing the line. I find that occasionally putting a little graphite into the hole where tha spool fits onto the machine helps the line advance part work much smoother, and it keeps the head from sticking.
Best regards, --W/D--
