Sounds like your drains for drip pan under the evaporator area are plugged. They are located at the base of the AC unit on roof. Look real close under AC unit near front, for a hole in base plate of AC on each side. Water ( condensation ) should be dripping out of those holes pretty steady when running. You should have an inch or so clearance between base of AC and roof to try and get a bent piece of wire, or similar in to hole and try to clean it out. If that doesn't help you will have to remove plastic cover and remove all the screws that hold the front cover over the evaporator and remove the front metal cover. Look down at base of the coils and fins and you will see a drip pan that has small holes at each end for drainage. They will get plugged up with debris, thus poor, if any drainage. I use a long air nozzle and a small compressor to blow them and the tray out to clean it well. That will usually cure your problem. Please remember to shut all power to AC, off at breaker panel before removing the cover on roof to avoid electrical shock.
The window unit needs to have a god tilt on it aiming it outside, and remove the unit and clean the unit out with a water hose ,make sure the bottom of the ac unit has all the debris removed.
Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. Remove the front cover and it will be on the bottom edge or by the vent opening on smaller units its on the side of the unit.

you have to remove the front cover to access the filter. The cover should be held in with push button retaining clips. After you remove the cover the filter resides in front of the evaporator.
Possible one of two problems. first make sure the unit is tilted away from the inside slightly. Second there are very small drains that let water flow from the front coil to the rear of the ac if the unit has been dirty it can plug these holes. You can find the holes by pulling the ac out or just remove it and use a hose to clean it. You can buy coil cleaner at a hardware store just follow the directions.
2 things to check, one is remove filters on inside & look at front coils to make sure they aren't frosting/freezing up. The other, remove cover on upper unit & check that drain holes in base are not plugged. Be careful of wasp nests when removing cover. If neither one of those is problem, you may have a cracked drain pan, which you can also observe/inspect when cover off on roof unit.
Had same problem with Ge AC. Unplug take out of window and remove all cover screws. Pull up on cover and pull cover off ac, Remove front cover as well there are a couple screws in the front. When looking at front of ac, hit the Styrofoam housing towards your left (towards control panel). Spin fan blade to make sure that it is clear. Plug in to double check. I put a couple quarters between the styrofoam and the metal housing, so it would not slide back. Also tape the styrofoam between the seams this helps with better cooling. Use some good tape nothing cheap. I used black duck tape. It took about 20 mins. The hardest part is re installing the AC.
