I had a blue screen with static in middle of screen, message at bottom said component cables were invalid?? I went and replaced lamp twice, because i had red lamp light on indicating lamp failure, still getting red lamp failure light even after replacing lamp twice. Should I replace my lamp for my Panasonic 1080i htd t.v. pt-50LC14

Replacing a lamp won't work. There is not even one lamp in your TV. I'm afraid the lightening has done more damage than can be repaired. Even when some tech manages to repair te error, the TV can have the next error in days or weeks.

51mp392h Blue Convergence Problem

Hello rogeuryder,

This is the one thing that even make TV repair persons shudder. You don't really have a convergence problem in the normal sense. The convergence works. What you have is a misaligned convergence situation which any documentation and or book on TV repair will tell you that at this point manual convergence adjustment is needed and the only thing you will have to do is keep trying to adjust the convergence until you get the center aligned, and then work towards the outer edges using both static (Center) and dynamic (outer edges) convergence techniques.

As this may sound it is; Very Very Tedious.

Here is something that may help you:

http://books.google.com/books?id=ttBofTJM7FEC&pg=PA112&lpg=PA112&dq=static+convergence&source=web&ots=hyUMeeY9s6&sig=DZm27q1aMbLiwKA__fyysBd2yUE&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=9&ct=result#PPA112,M1

I have used this book when I use to teach TV repair. I hope you discover what I am tried to convey in my e-mail, this is no longer a question of can you fix a TV? It has become a question of do you have the patience to adjust a TV.

Good fortune in doing this, you will succeed if you just take your time and do static convergence first and then do the dynamic convergence with the manual controls. The procedure will be in the service manual.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

The tv screen is 60% blue . . . . . .

Me too! Is this a related light engine problem that people are experiencing with the "red cloud" in the middle of the screen? I just replaced the lamp, which I thought was the problem, but nope, the blue is still there. So definitely not the lamp. I don't know what to do?

Sony WEGA 42" LCD TV

Uh Oh! blue screen of death. Your light engine has warped a little from overheating and is distorting the picture.

My suggestion to you is to get on the phone with Sony and start complaining, then keep complaining until they agree to pay for it. Even if it is out of warranty.
You may have to get the problem diagnosed by a pro before they agree to pay for it though.
Hope ya fix it!
