What worked for me is - put some water into the dirty water tank before you run it. My experience was, if I ran the machine with an empty dirty water tank, it stayed empty and didn't pull in any dirty water. If I put a little water in it beforehand, it helped seal the suction and get the thing started. Hope this helps!
There are two electrical solenoids inside the hood assembly. One opens to dispense rinse water, and the other dispenses the soap and water solution. It is likely that the soap and water solenoid has failed and will require replacement. A "work around" fix for this is to mix the soap solution in the clear water tank ( 5 oz. of shampoo per gallon of water ), and shampoo that way until the solenoid can be replaced.
The spring your talking about goes where the trigger switch is. You need to dismantle the entire unit to access this, remove 6 screws on hood, two main handle screws, two tool caddy screws and finally two lower back housing screws. Removed top handle and gently open unit up
had same problem. Tried pouring boiling water over cap and it seemed to loosen some so I boiled more water and put the steamer top down in a bowl in the kitchen sink and pour the boiling water in and let it sit about 5 minutes. It came loose with some effort. The grooves are the opening are metal and they had started to corrode.Once open coat with wd40.
It would depend on whether you machine preheats the water or not,and what kind of machine,Bissell,GE,etc..If your machine doesn't heat the water, then I would use hot water.Do not boil water, tap is fine.
There are two tanks on that machine. The lower tank is the recovery for the dirty water and the upper tank is for the clean water solution. You mix the detergent with the clean water and away you go.
