Look in your book.

- There is a bobbin (clear plastic) it rotates.
- The bobbin fits into the bobbin case (black), it does not rotate.
- The bobbin case is nested into the shuttle which does rotate.

There is no bobbin shuttle.

Riccard 9700 bobbin shuttle won't move The machine is threaded correctly as well as the bobbin

Even though you're sure of threading the machine and bobbin correctly, the best and first option is to unthread both and rethread both. Also take out the bobbin and examine it carefully for packed lint or dirt, damage, and apply a drop of oil onto the bobbin shuttle.

MY BOBBIN CASE HAS FALLEN APART AND I'M NOT SURE HOW TO PUT THE PIECES BACK TOGETHER.

Sounds like you are describing the hook. Perhaps the owner's manual would be assistance. We don't know the make/model of your machine so are really unable to help. There are some videos on YouTube that show how to install a shuttle and bobbin case, but machines differ.

My machine is not catching the thread around the bobbin holder

It sounds like you have a thread jam. Depending on the machine there may be lever that will release the bobbin shuttle, and another 2 levers to release the cover plate. Pay attention to positioning so you can put it back together. Remove the shuttle, then the bobbin cover and see if there are any knots of thread getting in the way.

Brother innov-is cs8080. Tangles underneath all the time Sometimes top thread wraps around the shuttle. Will not move forward. Have cleaned shuttle and changed spool but still not difference. Could...

Check your bobbin threading tension (is bobbin thread loose on bobbin?); check needle thread tension (does it snag or jump when feeding?)

Be sure bobbin case, etc. is properly installed in shuttle housing.

Upper and Lower Thread Tangled around bobbin case

It is possible that the "shuttle" isn't moving properly. It's also possible that it has a burr. Since it appears that you not little to nothing about these machines I would take it in and have it serviced. Tell the service person about your problem. Ask them to clean, oil, and time it.... and look for issues with parts. it will cost you about $150 or more if it needs parts.

Older 830 will not zig zag stitch. leavers and gears move fine. The needle moves back and forth - left and right but it doesn't pick up thread from the bobbin on the left side so it does a strait stitch...

Firstly, make sure you have fitted a new needle and that you have cleaned/oiled the hook race. Unfortunately, if you are finding that the machine will pick-up the thread and stitch OK when the needle is one side of the stitch-plate, but not when its on the other, it suggests that the timing/synchronisation is out and will need to be professionally adjusted. You can check the timing by adjusting the needle to its right-most position, remove the bobbin case, rotate the handwheel until the needle has gone down through the stitch-plate and is just about to come up again. Stop there. Tip the machine slightly back and release the black plastic hook/shuttle retainer by pressing the metal lever on the top-left side of the bobbin door, so that the hook/shuttle retainer pops open. Drop the hook/shuttle retainer, but leave the hook in place ... be careful that it doesn't drop out and slowly rotate the handwheel until the pointed part of the hook/shuttle rotates clockwise to the place where its point is directly behind the needle. Look carefully and you should see that the point of the hook/shuttle is just above the top of the thread hole in the needle. If it's much lower or higher, the timing is out and will need to be adjusted.

Problem inserting bobbin

Inserting bobbin into the bobbin case or problem inserting bobbin case into the shuttle?

Make sure the thread will feed from the bobbin clockwise and through the guide on the bobbin case.

Lift the lever on the bobbin case to hold the bobbin in place as you inset the bobbin case into the shuttle.

If the bobbin case for this machine as a "finger", this has to align with the opening in the shuttle.

If you cannot readily see this - move the bobbin case a bit to the left and right until it clicks into place.

Shuttle

The bobbin should be placed in the shuttle, with the needle at the top end travel. You can watch the shuttle move as the hand wheel is turned.
