Google Hoover vacuum manuals....consider this...how much will a
motor cost? How much will a new vacuum cost? I point this out
as I have no idea of what kind of vacuum you have.

Regards.

SOURCE: Repair manual for Electrolux EPIC 6500 SR

I don't have a manual for these but the trickiest thing about these units is taking them apart. If you have an Aerus/Electrolux dealer near you, it's not a bad investment to have them install the motor for you. You would probably receive a warranty with the work, and the things a long time. Great return on investment. But if you are determined to do it yourself, open the front of the canister and remove the bag. As you are looking at the front of the unit, there are two vinyl coverd strips that run the length of the unit. Pull forward on these strips and then pull out so that the vinyl seperates from the plastic underneath. Now grab the plastic strip with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull towards the front of the canister. These can be tough if the machine has never been opened up before, but pull as hard as you need to, to slide the strip out. Once both strips are out, turn the machine over, pull out on the sides of the bottom of the unit, and lift up. The bottom should come of relatively easily, and eveything will be exposed. Good Luck!!

SOURCE: Vacuum cleaner filters

Sponge filters should be washable. I have found that "FLASH" lemon floor cleaner is by far the best, but washing up detergent will do (far too many bubbles to get rid of for my liking!). I find pouring the detergent onto the sponge and working it in before dunking it in very warm water works best. Despite not being very washable, most paper filters can be washed if you have no other choice and you take care. Just pour on cleaner and then dunk up and down in hot water. Then leave in the airing cupboard for a couple of days to dry. It should get you by until you can find somewhere to buy a new paper filter.

The brushes on my Hoover model #5899-100 are not turning. How can this be fixed?

If the brushes on your Hoover model #5899-100 are not turning, it could be due to a problem with the belt, the brush roll, or the motor. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the belt to make sure it is not broken or worn. If the belt is broken or worn, it will need to be replaced.
  2. Check the brush roll to make sure it is not clogged with debris or tangled with hair. If the brush roll is clogged or tangled, it will need to be cleaned or replaced.
  3. Check the motor to make sure it is functioning properly. If the motor is not working, it will need to be repaired or replaced.
  4. If the problem persists after trying these troubleshooting steps, you may need to take the vacuum to a repair center for further diagnosis and repair.

How do you take a Hoover vacuum apart?

You are better off taking it to a Service Centre. It has electronics board inside and would need to be tested. If it's the motor brushes, you could replace those, but if it is the motor itself, it is normally beyond economic repair. Many parts including the motor are discontinued by the maker.

I need a replacement belt for Hoover Elite upright vaccum ,model no. U5043-930. What belt do I get?

Hello,

Your vacuum cleaner originally came with Hoover belt part number 38528027, however Hoover has now discontinued this part number, and replaced this belt with the new belt which is part number 38528040.

The new belt is a little bit smaller then your old one, but unfortunately this is the only belt that Hoover currently makes that will fit your model.

Here's a direct link to our website if you still need to purchase one:
http://www.govacuum.com/agbelhoovpar7.html

I have also uploaded the parts diagram and instruction manual for you. The parts diagram gives you every single part number for all parts on your vacuum should ever need to know another part number. The owners manual will give you step by step instructions on how to change the belt, as well as other maintenance instructions.

Part Diagram for Hoover U5227-930:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/vacuumcleanerbacgs/Part-diagram-hoover-u5043-930.pdf

Owners manual is actually for the commercial version of your vacuum, but this will be identical to your instruction manual which Hoover doesn't have available for free:
http://www.hoover.com/pdfs/manuals/C1414900.pdf

I hope that this information was helpful to you. If it was, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful by clicking the thumbs up icons in the top corner of the repair.

Thank you very much,

Chris J.

I need to switch on my thermal protector on my hoover

FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Normally there are either screws, clips or levers that would remove the bottom plate or lid that does not work then the top cover will come off and that will expose the belt of the hoover from there u can continue further by opening the locks with proper screwdriver.and then the motor can be seen.
