First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.
Pull the AC plug, remove the battery. You didn't post the Make, model of Laptop or the OS you are using? Reboot, open Control Panel, select Power Options, select High Performance, open Advanced Power settings/Change power plan, Set Hibernate and Sleep to Never, set advanced power settings to your preference, always shut down and unplug when not in use. Remove battery when using on AC power for extended periods.

Try to reboot your computer. If still you cant open it after rebooting. Click my computer icon. using right click then select disk management then try to see the condition if your drives are present. If its present but it is not found in the display you try to check your Hard disk drive to another computer and scan for viruses. jonags

Get online to www.filehippo.com and download Maware Bytes malware remover, it is under spyware etc. It is a free download...install and run the quick scan, when is posts the results remove all and reboot.
Im using the advent 4211-b and its flawless.small,light ,looks good has all you need built in and also has choice at startup windows or recovery.cant fault it.if you cant reboot.press power ,get as far as you get ,press and hold power button til switch off press power button again to restart(boot)if youre already in windows and cant shut down or reboot do the same.as long as you dont turn off and unplug no damage to the system will occur.
