My unit will not turn on by itself. I removed the cover of the relay on the PS board, and if I manually click the relay for a few seconds, the unit will turn on. When I turn it off, it will tuen on again by itself as long as the relay is still on contact position. After that, it won't turn on until I do it manually again. Sounds like a capacitor? non of them are bulged up! Any ideas? Thanks.
While I can't tell you what is wrong with your power supply I can offer you two solutions for it - a repair service and a replacement.
You can find them both here:

Hope this helps!
(of course a repair service is not guaranteed to succeed, but if it doesn't you will not be paying service fees; also, I'd say there is a reasonably good chance that a repair service will succeed).
Thanks for that but I am looking for a cheaper solution. I do some electronics myself and I only want to change the part(s) at fault. I can get a repair kit on ebay (or yours), but I'd rather get a solution from someone who had the same problem or know which part(s) are always failing on this particular unit.
Well for a starter I do not think that our repair kit would address this problem. As the kit clearly states you'd need to have the PFC circuit fuse blown and you clearly don't if the power supply works fine upon manual activation. So assuming that you can buy a repair kit is a mistake unless the kit description gives exact symptoms you can match. Anyway, good luck in your search!

I have the same problem. It happened once before about 4 years ago just after I bought it. I put a DVD in without the power on. I was able to take it out and it worked fine. This time my daughter put the DVD in, I took it out but still no picture or sound.
Have you had any luck?

A case of which came first the chicken or the egg, Power supply board may be the issue or the sustain board--have you looked for the usual bad caps on the power board?
