The SIM card helps identify the individual device as well as the service it receives. When you activate the phone, you have to give them all kinds of information- phone MEID, SIM number, etc. If you have a faulty SIM, they will send a new one and you have to give them the numbers for the new card to activate it. The problem appears that you're trying to register two SIMs to a single phone. I would talk to Straight Talk customer service to be sure, but I'm betting you can only activate that phone on a single SIM and you won't be able to get service switching back and forth between them.

It should but check on the Straight Talk website site, Bring Your Own Phone: enter the model number and it'll say yes or no.

If you want to keep the same phone number you will have to contact straight talk and give them the number, then contact your old provider and tell them you want to transfer the number to straight talk, then it takes a couple of days to transfer but both phones cannot have service at the same time.

It really depends on your ability to be patient with Straight Talk customer service. One night, I was on the phone with Straight Talk from 8:00 until 11:45 working to port a number. ATT had released the number, and for some reason Straight Talk couldn't capture it. It was frustrating. It wasn't the person from Straight Talk being difficult, it was the system.
