Could you please tell us the brand and model of your laptop so we can try to find a suitable solution for you problem?
Anyway... In general, most laptops have a pair of function keys marked with a symbol that looks like a sun. Pressing and holding the 'Fn' key while pressing a few times those two sun-marked key may incresae or decrease the brightness of your display.

Miguel L. Martins
(P.S.: The 'function keys' are those keys marked F1 to F12 at the top of the keyboard)
Maybe you have to Press and Hold the FN function key at the lower left portion of the keyboard then hit key 4 to get the rupee. Or it might be Press and Hold the ALT or CTRL key then hit key 4 to get it.
The key to know which key to Press and Hold is notice the color of the rupee symbol on key 4, then Press and Hold either the FN function key, Alt key or Ctrl that is the same color as the rupee.
The function keys do different things depending on where you are in booting the computer, the OS and the motherboard of the computer.
For example if you press F8 repeatedly as the computer starts up, Windows will launch in the Safe Mode (where you can deal with driver and malware conflicts). Other function keys depend on the system and will be listed on the quickly displayed splash screen when the machine starts up. On some computers, F1 or F2 at this same starting point will let you access the BIOS. F10, F11 and F12 could let you choose the boot location or launch the Recovery software to restore the computer to the factory installed condition.
On some laptops, these keys can control various features as part of hot key controls (press Control or Alt with the Function key). This can toggle an external monitor on and off, or disable the Wifi network. However, the key strokes depend on the machine.
Some programs will use the function keys as hot keys as well. Consult the documentation for the software. (I never learned the Word hot keys. Even though they would have been faster than finding menu/toolbar items with each version.)
To insert Euro symbol on a keyboard with the symbol, try Alt Gr + 4 (the key is next to the space bar). In Microsoft Office (WIndows), you can use the Symbol map to insert the symbol or type Alt+0128.
The upper symbols on the keyboard are called function keys usually not expected to respond when pressed. functions keysy are ysed to control the computers settings either when malfcuntions occur or computer requires alternations to another feature possibility. Every available keys are displayeable besides fucntions keys on user productivity programs.
FN key is to be used in combination with the function keys like F1, F2 , F3 and so on to launch or initiate a specific function on your computer and utilities or features that came with in.
You choose your own code. It's a keyboard right? So it has numbers on it...and an Enter key.
1. Press and hold in the small button next to Bluetooth symbol under the keyboard for 5 seconds. The charge indicator lights at the top of the keyboard should alternate flashing red then green.
2. Search for Bluetooth devices on the devices you wish to connect the keyboard to. The Keyboard should be listed there.
3. Enter a code of your choice into the device you are paring the keyboard to and submit it. I used a 4 digit number which worked without a problem.
4. Type the same code and press Enter on the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 Keyboard.
The keyboard should now be paired with your device.
Good luck,
