I just bought this Treadmill off of Craigslist and realized the incline did not work once i got it home.. I was wondering what I could do to fix it or how much it should be to have it fixed? I do have a handy husband so if I could get directions on how to fix it, we may be able to do it ourselves... should i be worried about dumping more money into this treadmill and more problems arising?

SOURCE: I have a Nordic Track EXP 1000X treadmill and the

Probably 85% of the time, it's the sensor.

1. remove the screws from the bottom of the enclosure case. 2 or 3 in the front and 1 on each side

lay it back down, and power it up, and actuate your incline. watch the end of the motor, to see if the shaft is moving. It probably IS turning but only a little bit. NOT enough. In this case I'd say it is the sensor.

2. Unplug the unit of course.
3. the incline motor is in the middle of the pack,..you'll see a black tube looking thing sticking up.
4. on the bottom side of this, you will see,..or feel for a black square sensor attached to bottom of the motor casing.
5. follow the wires and unplug this.
6. pry it off with a screw driver. Remove incline assembly, if you cannot reach it.
7. replace sensor and try it again.

if the MOTOR does NOT turn when using the incline buttons, the problem backs up to possibly a bad control board. or a bad motor on your incliner, however, i'd say that's the last thing to go.

Order of failure: 1. sensor 2. control board 3. motor.

good luck

SOURCE: Treadmill Incline Works, belt does not move

Check the drive belt. It may be loose or broken. If the belt is loose, then to tighten the drive belt, start by removing the front cover. loosen the bolts around the motor then tighten the drive belt by tightening the motor adjuster bolt. Once the drive belt is tight, tighten the motor back down.

SOURCE: My treadmill is stuck in the max incline position

If the incline moves but only just a bit, it could be a problem as simple as the gearbox on the motor being jammed. We remove the motor from the treadmill, reconnect the wiring, and then try to run the incline motor outside the treadmill. Many times, this will unjam it if that is the problem and then reinstalling it in the treadmill will get it to work. If you have the same problem or it doesn’t run outside the machine and you can hear it try to work, you need to replace the incline motor.

SOURCE: My Nordictrack treadmill seems to

it is trying to calibrate itself, let it go the whole way up and then down without interrupting it. Then it should be fine.

SOURCE: our belt is slipping on our nordic track c1900

I have the same unit. First, remove the hood. Then, the motor has an adjustment screw on the belt side of the motor. Loosen the nut a little, adjust the motor up or down to make the belt as tight as you can by hand, then re-tighten the nut. This always fixes mine.

None of the touch buttons work. Fans, volume, speed, incline etc etc. The only two buttons that work are incline buttons 6 & 7. Power comes on and key turns on and off though. Can anyone advise??

sorry but i dont have a solution for you!! i bought the t9ci back in nov of 2008, like you none of the buttons worked had to wait till march of 09 for nordictrack to send me a reprogram card, which did not fix the problem. i then recieved a new console, in april 09, which stopped working in feb 10. a service tech came out and had no clue, so the sent another new console which did not work. in march 10 they sent a whole brand new treadmill, and when i got on it last week the console was not working once again!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope you dont have as many problems as i did

Every time I put the key in my Proform 590T, the incline rises for a second, and lowers for a second while displaying 2 hash marks. Then, the home screen comes. All speeds work fine for walking/running,...

how long have you had this treadmill? usually when the hash marks appear it means that the console control board is not recognizing the incline motor. even though it does run a little bit that is just the basic test that the treadmill starts but resets after it does not sense the incline motor. These motors rarely go bad so it is more than likely your motor controller that is causing the issue. I have seen this case many times as i am a fitness repair technician. The motor controller fixes the issue 9 times out of 10

I have a NordicTrack EXP 1000 X. Just bought it froma guy on craigslist, and it was working fine at his house. Messed with the belt tensioner bolts a bit when I brought it home, and now when I walk/run on...

It sounds like the belt is bogging down, this condition is when the treadmill operates normally without a person on the belt and then slows down when someone steps on the belt or when the treadmill operates normally for a given period of time with someone on the belt then abruptly begins to slow down.
The only certain way to test for a worn walking belt is to take a DC amp draw . Trying to look at the belt or a feel test is highly unreliable. Better tests, if you lack a DC ammeter (they are expensive for a good one), are a coast test or an incline test.
The coast test is to get on the treadmill as the lowest incline setting and walk on the treadmill at 3 MPH. Pull the safety key and it should take you 2-3 full steps to stop fewer steps indicate high friction.
The incline test is to put the treadmill at max incline and walk on it at 3 MPH. If the treadmill operates normally at max incline but bogs down at minimum incline, replace the walking belt. Gravity takes over for the drive system eliminating much of the friction problem. On some heavily worn walking belts, this test will not eliminate the problem.
