Ok, I have been reading and troubleshooting from this website, and it has been pretty helpful, but I am afraid that I need additional help. I first got the E1 error on my dryer, after some research, I was told to replace the thermistor. I got the part, and replaced it, and then the dryer worked. It dired about 5 loads of clothes. Just when I thought I had done something good, the dryer stopped heating. Everything works except that it does not get hot. I got a book from the library and read more on this website. I have checked for continuity on the thermal fuse, and the two pieces that are on the outside of the heating element box. All are good. Should the thermistor have continuity? How do I tell if the heating element is shorted or needs replacing? Any additional info would be appreciated.
If it just won't heat, it's a thermostat issue (most likely). You can try a different setting and check if it works. There are different thermostats for different settings. Also there is a contact that is operated by the motor to insure that the drum is turning for heat.
