Unplug your modem and router (if you have one) leave them unplugged for 15 seconds or so. Plug them back in. reboot your computer and check to see if the problem is resolved. as for the audio issue. go into "control panel" click on "hardware and sound" tab and then go to "Manage audio devices" here you can look for the tab that connects to the sound system you use, if its' speakers and headphones, click on that, you should have several choices.

SOURCE: sound doesn't work on Sony Vaio VGN-sz480

I'm confused. A Codec is used in an audio player like Media Player 11. If your computer has no sound when it comes on then you need a driver. I looked up your model and found a Realtek driver speciafically for your machine. You can download this at: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNS460. If you need an Audio CODEC for your media player I would suggest downloading PowerDVD from download.com to insure that your system sound is working correctly then you can use the Microsoft CODEC installation package to determine the real missing CODEC.

SOURCE: have vaio VGN-S460, window 7. Can't get internet

Windows 7 is still a beta and Sony probably doesn't make drivers yet for the network adapter on that computer. You might be able to install the windows vista or xp drivers and that may work. You might have to manually install these drivers, however.

SOURCE: my sony vaio (VGN-FS515B) has audio drivers which

Download " Driver Genius pro" from the link below

Just install the software and let it update your drivers, and don't worry about anything just let it download the updates and let it install.

S/PDIF port

You probably need to enable the port. This is in the Playback Audio Device control Panel. Connect your cable between the computer and the audio receiver (audio in port). With Windows 7, click on Start > Control Panel. Then go to Hardware and Sound. Click on Manage Audio Devices. Under the Playback tab, look to see what devices are listed. If you do not see a optical audio device, right click on the window and select Show Disabled Devices. Then right click on the Optical Port option and make it the default. (Alternatively, left click and use the drop down menu below.) Click Apply to confirm this.

In Windows 8, use the Charms menu from the Desktop (Windows Key + C). Choose Settings and then the Control Panel. Then follow the above directions.

If you have a different OS, please add a comment with that information. I hope this helps.

However, the line-in connection to your sound card is muted by default. This means that if you plug an audio device into this port, it will not produce any sound on your computer until you enable sound for the line-in connection. pcsyke_0.png
To enable sound for the line-in connection
  1. Open Audio Devices and Sound Themes by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Sound.

  2. Click the Playback tab, click Speakers, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Levels tab, and then, under Line In, click the Mute button 6b62e2ae-431c-4fb5-8905-aaaea5b445a4.png to enable sound for the line-in connection.

Front headphone jack does not work, do not get sound. I have an a1450n HP Pavilion running windows 7 ultimate. Running Realtek High Definition audio drivers. This problem is quite common on the internet....

If you face issue with only front jack then you need to check the connection of front jack to motherboard. For that open cpu cabinet cover. Then find the cable from front sound jack to motherboard. Connect it into right position .You can find diagram on motherboard or in manual. There is some pins on the corner of motherboard. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

I need to replace the dc jack on vgn-txn17p. I need the manual to open the laptop.

If you have to ask "how", you should avoid a heap of trouble by taking the computer to a qualified technician, to get the job correctly, using the correct tools.
