I can't hook it back up

For surround sound, you need an A/V receiver with 5.1 or 7.1 surround capability. Depending on what kind of receiver you have, the DVD player, satellite/cable box, etc hooks to the receiver, those signals go out to the TV, and the speakers hook to the receiver. The receiver decodes the signal from the cable/satellite box or DVD player and routes it to the appropriate speakers. If the TV program or DVD isn't HD or coded for surround sound, the best you can expect is 2.1 channel stereo sound. OR, you can hook everything (DVD, satellite/cable box) to the TV and run an optical cable from the Digital Output of the TV to the receiver, which is basically the same thing, just a different way to hook everything up. its old model, will not pass hd video, good only for audio. Connections depend on your equipment. If you use a cable box to watch tv, connect cable box audio out rca connectors (red and white), by an audio rca cable, to audio TV input on the back of the receiver. Now when you swith your receiver to TV input you get sound from cable box trough your speakers.
If you use DVD player: connect audio out of the player to dvd audio input of the receiver. Switch the receiver to DVD input, you have sound from DVD.

You will need the optical cable. My receiver only passes video through the hdmi. So I hooked up the HDMI cable to the tv, and the optical cable to the receiver. Once that is done you have to go to the audio settings for the PS3 and chose audio through the optical.

BD and DVR hooked up to the receiver and from the receiver to the TV right? If yes: Your receiver set to pass sound trough to the TV, if you want sound from the home theater setting has to be changed.

Hook your video source up to the display (TV), and run your audio cables to an input on your surround sound receiver. Note which input the audio cables are hooked up to and set the surround sound receiver to that channel on the front of the receiver. For example, if you hook up the audio inputs to "AUX" in, then make sure you select "AUX" on the front of the receiver. If you hook up the audio input to "DVD" on rear of receiver, make sure you select "DVD" on the front of the receiver. The connections on the rear of the receiver have to match the selection on the front of the receiver. Make sure that the cables are hooked up to "INPUT" on the surround sound receiver. It doesn't matter how the inputs are labeled (DVD, AUX, etc.) they all do the same thing. Check volume and mute controls on receiver as well. I know it sounds trivial, but sometimes it's the little things that get overlooked and cause problems. I hope this helps and good luck.

This is the easiest way 2 explain it. Hook up on the home theater should be labeled in and out. same as on the tv. The TV might no have that feature as the DVD is built in. You might just have an option for sound from the TV/DVD to the home theater. Again OUT from TV IN to receiver. Same with any other device set up.

get a rca cable (red and white) hook one end on the audio out on the back of the tv and the other end to the audio in on the back of the receiver. then go to aux crank it up!!!

Svideo requires the audio cables too, Red and White. Svideo is only carries video.

For Stereo Mode (Front L & R Speaker), you must plug RCA cables (match up red and white) from Output on DVD player to DVD Input on the back of the receiver. Then with speaker wire, run from receiver speaker output (Front Speakers) to designated speaker (make sure + and - match up to both input and output). As for hooking up surround sound, I'm currently trying to figure that one out with just using the L, R and Center. I don' t want wire running all over the place just for rears. Hope this helps
