SOURCE: Honda Pressure Washer HP 5 not starting

You can try spraying some carburetor cleaner into the carb. If it starts for a minute, your carburetor need cleaning. When you added new gas did you remove the old gas first? Is the air filter clean?

SOURCE: Karcher pressure washer with Honda GC160 engine only runs on chok

You need to remove the carb bowl, then with a small flat screwdriver remove the jet. ( on the side, at the bottom of stem.) take a small wire or toothpick and clean the gunk out of the jet, reassemble and open fuel valve, start, and pat yourself on your back.

Arrangement of wire colour codes for a Nissan dualis

If the throttle on your gas-powered pressure washer does not engage and there is no pressure when you pull the trigger, there could be a few potential causes for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:
1. Check the fuel level: Ensure that the pressure washer has an adequate supply of fuel. If the fuel level is low, refill the tank with fresh gasoline.
2. Verify the choke position: Check the position of the choke. If the engine is cold, the choke should be in the "Closed" or "Choke" position. If the engine is warm, the choke should be in the "Open" or "Run" position. Adjust the choke accordingly.
3. Inspect the spark plug: Remove the spark plug and examine its condition. If the spark plug is dirty, fouled, or worn out, it may cause starting and throttle issues. Clean or replace the spark plug if necessary.
4. Check the air filter: A clogged or dirty air filter can restrict airflow to the engine and affect its performance. Remove the air filter and clean or replace it if it appears dirty or worn.
5. Ensure proper oil levels: Check the oil level in the engine. If the oil level is low or dirty, it can impact the engine's operation. Refer to the user manual for the correct oil type and fill the engine with the appropriate amount of oil.
6. Inspect the throttle linkage: Examine the throttle linkage mechanism and ensure it is connected properly. If the linkage is loose, disconnected, or damaged, it may prevent the throttle from engaging. Reconnect or repair the linkage as necessary.
7. Fuel line and carburetor inspection: Inspect the fuel line and carburetor for any blockages, clogs, or damage. Clean or replace any components that appear to be obstructed or faulty.
If you have tried the above steps and the issue persists, it may be best to consult a professional or contact the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They can provide more specific troubleshooting steps or advise on whether the pressure washer requires professional repair.

The throttle does not engage on a troy bilt 3100 2.5 GPM model 020678

If the throttle does not engage on a gas-powered pressure washer when the trigger is pulled, leading to no pressure, there are a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow:
1. Check the throttle linkage: Inspect the throttle linkage to ensure it is properly connected and not obstructed. Verify that the linkage moves freely and is connected to the engine's throttle mechanism. If the linkage is loose or disconnected, reattach it securely.
2. Verify the choke position: Check the position of the choke on the engine. If the engine is cold, the choke should be in the closed or partially closed position. If the engine is warm, the choke should be fully open. Adjust the choke position accordingly.
3. Clean or replace the carburetor: A dirty or clogged carburetor can prevent proper fuel flow and throttle engagement. Remove and clean the carburetor, making sure all jets and passages are clear. If cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, consider replacing the carburetor.
4. Check the fuel supply: Ensure that the pressure washer has an adequate supply of clean fuel. If the fuel is old or contaminated, drain it and refill the tank with fresh gasoline.
5. Inspect the spark plug: Remove the spark plug and check its condition. A fouled or worn-out spark plug can impact engine performance. Clean or replace the spark plug as needed.
6. Check the air filter: A dirty or clogged air filter can restrict airflow to the engine, affecting its operation. Clean or replace the air filter if it appears dirty or damaged.
7. Consult the owner's manual: Refer to the pressure washer's owner's manual for specific troubleshooting steps and maintenance procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be best to contact a professional technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They can provide specialized advice and guidance based on your specific pressure washer model.

Replacing the pump

There are only 3 things necessary for ignition.
1. fuel
2. air
3. spark

Use a starting fluid spray directly into air filter.
if engine starts but doesn't run the problem is fuel'

remove the carburetor float bowl and then use a screwdriver to remove the jet locking nut in the tube the bowl nut attaches.
Use a small wire to remove the jet locking nut after it is loose. Then use the wire to remove the jet tube. Tube has several jet ports that should also be cleaned. reassemble. Allow carburetor bowl to refill then crank at full choke position. If the engine starts buy some techron fuel additive from an auto parts store and add 2-4 ounces to the gas for the next 2 tanks. this will completely clean the fuel system.

If engine doesn't start check for spark either using a spark tester or removing the spark plug and holding plug against the engine frame and pulling starter rope if spark is present replace the spark plug and try to restart the engine.

If these steps don't work I would replace the carburetor.

Pressure washer won't start. It has gas, oil and I turned the switch to turtle and to rabbit position. Does it matter if water is on first or not? It won't start either way.

Turn the water on, hold trigger down and let water run thru the hose to prime the air out of the hose. If it still will not start check the spark plug and clean it or replace it. A bad spark plug will keep it from starting

Im trying to start but it wont start....whats does it mean to flood it out! i borrowed from friend and he says he used it 2 days ago and it started just fine.

flood it out means that there is too much unburnt gas in the cylinder. the spark plug is probably wet with gas. simple fix though. just pull the spark plug out, pull the cord on the engine a few times and let everything set untill the gas evaporates. then put the plug back in and try to start it. easy with the choke or it will happen again.

Engine on powerwasher starts but quits running after approx 10 seconds. Engine oil changed, oil is full & tried choke in various positions. Also has fresh fuel in tank. What else can I do

try cleaning the carb that ethanol plays havoc on these small engines if it is not a premix oil and gas unit add a little 2 cycle engine oil to the gas will keep the carbon builup to a minimum not to much it will gunk up your spark plug take the carb apart and clean it with carb cleaner or deisellet dry check your spark plug make sure it is clean and ok that is where I would start

Doesnt build pressure up ,it just runs right without pressure does the compressor require being oiled?

HELLO THERE:
Here is some troubleshooting tips for you and a web link for you ok this should help
best regards michael
Troubleshooting Your Pressure Washer troubleshooting_pressurewasher.jpg General points to check if a problem occurs
  • Are the engine and fuel switches in the “ON” position?
  • When troubleshooting, always check oil and gas levels.
  • The oil for the pump is a 30W non-detergent mineral oil. Do Not fill over halfway on the sight glass.
  • Is the water tap open?
  • Check the choke and throttle levers.
  • Is the correct nozzle in the lance? Is the nozzle plugged?
  • Only the black nozzle is for soaping at low pressure.
  • Is the water-inlet screen clogged?
  • Hold the gun trigger open while pull starting the engine.
  • Check for O-rings in the lance and quick couplers.
  • Has the unit tipped over? Close the fuel switch and keep pull starting the engine until the excess fuel is burnt up, then open the fuel valve and try again. Some engines will need to be primed every time they are started.
  • Make sure the engine is turned off after each use. It should not be left running without use for longer than 2 minutes as the pump can overheat.
Are you experiencing low pressure?
  • Is there an air leak?
  • Dirty pump valves?
  • Check for worn pump valves or broken valve springs.
  • Check for a worn out spray nozzle.
  • Check for leaks in your plumping or hoses.
  • Troubleshoot your nozzle, is it turned to the highest pressure setting?
  • Is the unloader improperly set?
  • Are the engine RPMs too low?
  • Check if your water supply is sufficient.
  • Check if your engine is getting enough power.
Trouble with high vibrations
  • Dirty pump valves?
  • Do you have a sufficient water supply?
  • Is there are in your water supply?
  • Is the inlet water filter clogged?
  • Clogged or damaged spray nozzle?
  • Make sure it has the correct fuel
  • Has the choke been left on after the engine has warmed up?
If the engine won’t start
  • When troubleshooting the engine, check if it's low on fuel or oil?
  • Worn or dirty spark plugs?
  • Is the switch in the off position?
  • Is the fuel valve in the off position?
  • Is the engine flooded from over choking?
  • When cold starting, was the engine properly choked?
If the starter is hard to pull
  • Low oil in the crankcase or pump assembly.
  • Oil or fuel in cylinders (hydro locked).
  • Pressure built up in the system, relieve this by squeezing the trigger.
