SOURCE: Can't find reverse for my singer stylist 457

Reverse stitching is accomplished by sliding the stitch-length selector bar all the way up to the top of its slot. You don't need to loosen the bar before doing this - so you'll have no problems dropping the bar back down to where it was.

Singer Stylist 7258 will only sew backwards and is only making holes...no stitches!
this link is for the manual go to page 32 ,it sounds like you have it on button hole stitch witch goes in revers, you need to press button hole off switch.
